question about AM cardio on empty stomach

Ok alot of people on this board swear by am cardio on a empty stomach to burn fat quicker but everything i read says that when you wake up your body is in a catabolic state until you eat. So by not eating and doing cardio wont you burn muscle also?

All cardio burns muscle aswell as fat. Doing cardio on an empty stomach burns more fat and more muscle. Low intensity burns less overall calories then high intensity cardio. Low intensity cardio burns more calories from fat then muscle when compared to high intensity.

So if your concerned about sparing your muscle with the morning cardio stick with low intensity like walking up hill or the eliptical.

you don't always burn muscle during cardio, just when you have no other available energy sources, like when you are low on glycogen and performing anaerobic sprints, but low intensity cardio on an empty stomach doesn't tap muscle for energy hardly at all
