    you can't be serious? really?

ummm... maybe it's the fact that propelling people into outer-space, and then keeping them alive for a prolonged period of time, costs hundreds of millions of dollars...

or maybe it's the fact that we've already been to the moon, and there's nothing there, so why the HELL would we go back. We already know it cannot sustain life.

or maybe you should look into India's up and coming space program, and how they're looking to send a man to the moon in the near future.

because our governments are retarded and would rather spend billions of dollars fighting with each other than exploring the cosmos

I guess I just assumed on the first expedition they took a bunch of samples and what-not, learned what was up there and concluded there wasn't a whole hell of a lot else they wanted to learn. They probably can't justify spending the money for what they could potentially gain from a return trip.

we need to establish a base that is a launch point for longer expeditions....it's alot easier to break the moon's orbit with a big craft than it is the earth's....much less fuel needed in the long run. Develop a relatively small craft that shuttles to the moon and build the big ****ers there

that's exactly what we should do....only other realistic launch system I can think of would be building absolutely retardedly tall launch platforms to the point where earth's gravity is less for the launch.....but I dunno how easy that would be to do....need some more engineering advances I think

I concur....never been there and probably never will. Most are beginning to realize this and history has started to be re-written. I was reading an almanac and they had three words about it in the space exploration. LOL... it said, man walked on the moon on """" date... I was like the biggest event of human history gets three words? then i realized that Time Almanac wanted to maintain it's credibility.... so that was probably the best thing they could do.

In fact most countries don't believe America ever did that, only americans do.

BC, if you want to believe it you can. If you don't then don't.... you will never get a straight answer.... but, even your question for the thread should tell you alot within itself.... anyhow, those mythbusters are just having fun, they don't prove or disprove anything...

Think about it: even if the US succeeded in a manned lunar landing, don't you think other nations would have followed suit?

It's like the Russians said fack it, they made it before us, why even bother?

If it was possible it would have been done by more than one nation. Especially in the 60s when the soviet union was still going strong.

why launch from the moon and not a free floating platform in earth's orbit? like skylab only bigger?

you can use the mineral resources on the moon to actually build some of the components so you wouldn't have to ship them

Why would you ship minerals to a space station rather than whole pieces of space craft built on earth? Do you have any idea what it would cost to build a spacecraft from dust on the moon? Starting with mining. The people the structures you'd need to build. Think of what it costs to do it on this planet then multiply it by about 10,000.

On the moon there's no water, no loose gas or liquid of any kind. The vacuum on the moon is more perfect than any we've ever created on Earth. When talking about mining, we use huge amounts of water, huge amounts of power. We consume oxygen and we put out great clouds of gas. But there is no water on the moon, nothing to burn, and no power until we put it there.

Then what are you gonna fuel the shuttle with?

You're talking about shipping an awful lot of crap here. You have no hold on reality.
