    Upper T-Spine Injury?

I just wanted to get some input on an injury I just suffered.

From what I can tell it is my T-spine. I am thinking that it is around t-4/t-5

I was doing, of all things, calf raises. After a heavy set, I developed a pain.

Now, this is something that has happened to me before. It usually happens when my arms are up by my head like when doing military presses or pullups.

It hurts on the right side of my spine mid-back. It hurts when I turn my head to the right and up/down. I can really feel it when I try to compress my head down to my neck if that made sense.

It has been 1 week now, and although it feels slightly better. It is still with me. I doubt anything would show on x-rays. I would most likely need an MRI, and am not willing to pursue that yet.

Anyone have a similar experience or have any tips on recovery? I know that I should be using heat/cold, but I haven't started that yet. Any help is appreciated!

Yeah learn to stretch better. If it gets better in a week it's not your spine, it's muscle. It's not disk related. It's easy to pull muscle back there, just learn to do better stretches and work those areas.

I Have an overactive rhomboid after tearing it from a trampolining injury i sustained years ago. I was training then but after the injury i totally stopped for years, it has been a constant strain on my life, until i started working out again. I had constant strain which was more annoying than painful but it also affected my t4/t5 and my head often felt too heavy for my neck. A chiropracter helped to fix this (not everyone believes). I had ultrasound on my rhomboid to ease the constant tension. Pull ups etc put this strain back into my rhomboid but only for a day or 2 now. There actually improving my back slowly.

Not sure if your problem is the same bt might be worth investigating.

T spine injury is extrememly rare. Because of your ribs, there is so little movement in the T-spine, you're almost fused already in more simple terms. I would take anti-inflamitories, most likely muscle related and probably not that major if you're already feeling somewhat better 1 week out.

Thanks for the responses. I have come down with a bad cold which blows balls because I hate taking medicine all day. I think that at this point I will wait a couple more weeks to see how I feel.

I have been wanting to take some time to go light and do high reps so here's my chance I suppose.
