steam rooms are bacteria breeding grounds.
Ive alway used the sauna, since my wrestling days. I only do it once or twice a weekat my age now (47) for about 15 to 20 mins. Helps u bring ur core temp up a little, helps me sweat out metals and toxins, stretch out my tendons and joints real well while im in there, and lose a little extra water, make sure u take in xtra water. Just my opinon, has always really worked well for me!!!
Good to know as I am switching gyms and they have both there and I never used one before.
haha ya me too bro the old trash bag under the sweatshirt and the sauna to make weight. brings back old memories.. most bad lol. otherwise i dont see a reason to use them i mean if your workouts are intense( I hope) you should sweat enough if your reason for using it is to "sweat out toxins" which i think is bogus then the workout should cover it.

problem with after work out is I have sweated so much I don't like to do it right after. I do like to steam at other times though.
Forget the steam room after working out, get home have a shower and eat eat eat...
when i worked at a gym , to echo what others said, we called the steam room the "bacteria bath" *L*
i usually sauna 2x week PWO - i have no idea re muscles etc...i just enjoy it and it relaxes me...i like to be sure im well hydrated before entering though....
Steam is ok on off days just dont go into a nasty one
never liked steam room its just looks like there everyones germs everywhere. I heard that the temp is too high for bacteria to survive but i just don't like it.
Sauna is nice, i usually stretch in there. It warms everthing up.
I went into the steamroom ONCE after a leg day.
I got the WORST cramps ive ever had right after I got out... i had to lay down and bend my legs for almost 1hr after. I really dont think I was dehydrated, I intake almost 2 galls of water, could of be a postassium def. but theres no way I would EVER risk those leg cramps again.... brutal.
My suggestion... no
There's always a Greco-Roman wrestling match going on in the steam room of my gym.
