    Proper Time to Use AAS

Hey guys, my question pertains to the proper time to use AAS. Obviously, there is no magical age at which it is proper to use AAS. It’s not like as soon as you hit a certain age, it’s a green light to starting cycling. There obviously is a reason why it is recommended that you are at least within your late teens/early twenties before you should consider using them. I’ve read various sources of information as to when it is okay to begin using them, and I still haven’t found the exact reasons why. All I’ve found in a nut shell is:

    - Wait until early twenties
    - May stunt growth
    - May slow down/permanently stop natural testosterone production (Risk for all…)

So my question is what is the difference between using AAS at say 18, and using at 21? It seems many people use them in their LATE teens and have not had many problems, due to proper usage. Obviously there is a bit more growth that occurs between your late teens and early twenties, but nothing drastic. What indicators are there that give a green light to use AAS, meaning that it is safe to do so? How does one know, other than hitting that “magical” age? I’ve been working out for about 4 years now, been eating clean for a year to two, and I’m not making gains like I did when I first started. On the long, slow grind to improvement.

    Appreciate the answers, guys.

    - Steve

    Ah the stats, of course.

    Age: 18
    Height: 5"7
Weight: 170 (Not sure BF%, 10%, abs visible, but not contest conditioned)
Been working out for 4 years now, been eating properly for about a year now, meaning eating 6 meals a day, proper supplementation, proper protein/fats/carbs, etc.

I figure if you can't handle researching an already asked question, you can't handle AAS use.

Yes you are right, but if you look hard enough you will find horrific threads written by those that started to young.

    Why take the risk...

Well, I don't completely understand your statement that "they haven't had any problems"? Do you mean after a year, after five years, or twenty years? Do you mean they haven't experienced low libido, ED, hairloss, general hormonal problems, injury problems with their bone and muscle structure or any other of the miriad afflictions that can plague the human body. I think you might want to research that a little further. I'm not trying to be mean, just honest. At your age you can lift, eat and gain plenty of size, and do it all natural. Why would you want to pass that up? T

If you can't break 170 after 4 years of training I'd say go play ping pong, or take up nintendo.

he's 5'7, and at 18 he hasn't had the advantage of peaked testosterone as long as someone who started training at 20+ years old would have

second, i play ping pong competitively so back the hell up, lol

maybe, but that would mean he started at age 14, what 14 year old that you know has a dialed in training routine and keeps it going year round

on the same note, he stated he's only been eating properly for 1 year, so i would assume that means he has been taking his training/dieting seriously for one year

meaning that he has effectively only been training properly for a little over a year

Exactly Phate. Only for the last year have I been dieting properly, which is the MAIN component of any workout regimen. From May last year until now, I've put on about 25-30 pounds, and I'm not that fatty, as stated above. I guess I should rethink this whole thing. It just seems that I can't put on lean weight, has to either be a bulk or a cut, and with summer time coming, I'd rather get cut, despite wanting to put on weight. Maybe I should toy around with my diet and see if I can find a range that will allow me to put on lean mass.

Bro I think that is SUPER progress. Once your natty test kicks in to its fullest, you will see some great results.

You seem to have a good head on your shoulders and are on the right track. Let nature do its thing.

Are you into any kind of sports? If so and college is in your plan for next year, stick to your plan. Several reasons. One, you put on 25lbs of lean mass in a year and appearently are having no trouble keeping it with proper diet and training. Second, if you compete in collegiate sports and are good, someone is going to pay for your education. So why chance that with illegal compounds. Third, get out of college and see where life is going to take you. If you don't make a career out of sports, then look at a cycle.

This will do several things for you. First it will let your body and endocrine system fully mature and settle into its "happy place" and keep you from screwing something up. And most importantly it will keep you out of unneccesary legal issues that are always a potential in this game.

25 in a year of hard work and diet? Come on, you arent done growing yet. Dial in your food and training. Seriously. I would kill to be 18 again. I could look at food and drive by a gym and grow at 18. You are soon going to reach your best years for growth. Take advantage of them and be proud of your NATURAL results. YOu will thank us later.

Can you imagine the gains that this young man could make in a year if he had an experienced member of this board right by his side every step of the way? Every senior member is thinking that, wow, they could make you a monster and it certainly wouldn't take steroids to do it. Think about it, not one person on this board would tell you that you needed anything else than training and diet to get where you want to be, that should mean something...

Good weight for your height but way to young to consider any steroid.... Give it a few years bro.
