    Bigger, Stronger....and uhhh slightly slower

Howdy. I'm a newb from the pacific northwest. any tips hints about how to get around in this forum/etiquette etc would be appreciated (heard the search button is good for questions..lol..) I've been poking around this site for a few months now and thought i might be able to help others with my own experience's weight training....sports...etc...
gained a lot of insight from this website so hopefully ill be able to give something back.

quick question when you are adding weight to your routine do you add it gradually or just put on as much as you can and keep the reps low? when i'm gaining weight i like to keep it around 4-6 reps. had a lot of success with that...how about you??????

    cheers.

    Welcome to AR.

As far as your question it depends on your goals. Do you want size or strength?

man i need to dig up some before and after pics.... mostly size. i usually do this thing where i will lift a weight that's heavy at the fourth rep. then week by week i'll add reps until i get to about 7 or 8..then it's time to add more weight so 4 is heavy again...etc...
then ill on a rest day i'll do a full body circuit of my 1 rep max for multiple muscles and exercises..just once though. example 1 rep 255lbs on bench.
then i take a day off..go back in the gym for my normal 4-8 rep set and bam...it just feels lighter.
in between that time i'm eating like a mad man and barely moving. literally just laying in bed...doing homework/watching tv...video games...etc..
it seems like almost doing less work = more muscle when gaining weight.

low reps seem to keep me making weight and strength gains. what's your experience?
