    Powerlifting Diet questions

Ok this goes out to the powerlifters I guess.

I'm looking to train to get into the 198 weight class (currently weigh 205-210).

I see a lot of BB'n diets and guides here, but I have not run across any powerlifting food guides.

I'm curious If I should eat my maintain caloric amount (3k ish calories), and just train at my current weight, or should I bulk, then trim down later (but I'd worry about strength loss with that much cutting/muscle loss).

And what kind of macros should I be looking for? The same as the BB'ers, or something a bit different?

Sorry If this is a dumb question, but I have no desire to bodybuild, so I don't know if I should be following the same meal plans/caloric intakes.

powerlifters normally aren't as finicky about their diets as bodybuilders, for the main reason that we have to manipulate our diets to affect fat loss and muscle gain at the same time while powerlifters are concerned mostly with strength, which means basically that as long as you follow a semi strict diet that gives your body all the proper nutrients when it needs them, then you are fine

basically, eat at maintainance or above by a little bit, make sure you have adequate amounts of protein/carbs/fats, and try to eat as clean as possible
