Hi all i am setting up a gym in my garage I am almost there but am looking for an olympic barbell. I have found 6ft and 7ft ones but the 6ft is so much cheaper is there any disadvantages of a 6ft bar?

i thought all "Olympic" barbells were 7 ft standard. not exactly the expert on the subject, but i cant see why a 6 footer would hurt if your working out in the garage.
get the cheaper one
No, don't get the cheaper bars. I've had my experience with cheapos and they won't hold up. Get a quality bar. I got a super cheap set from dicks, the bar stripped and bowed within a year making my dedicated bar for t-bar rows. Now have a 1500lb capacity power bar, awesome peice of equiptment.
lol.....

look like it too, colour coated to make you aware the intesity and how powerful each one is.
Hi all i put an ad in the local ad site thought i might as well before i go buy one and i ended up getting a nice 7ft barbell with 145kg of weights :-) that will do me for a while!
a 6ft bar would probably be useless. It is to short for cages and olympic benches
