    Workout motivation

Hey, iv been training pretty good throughout the summer but the last 3-5weeks iv been finding myself not motivated for the gym too much. i dont know why but i just have lost some motivation.

I was wondering is there any techniques you use or any articles or anything you read that re-motivates you?

    Thanks for all responses

mirrors motivate me, reading this site, getting that pump feeling. I work the graveyard shift at work and I'm tired and barely motivated to drive home, but once I get on the weights it just feels good. Maybe switch up your program to something new? do you constantly do the same thing week after week or do you add changes often? I always change it up

I usually just think of how much of a fat a$$ I became after got out of the Army and all the jeers I got for it and that usually gets me pissed off enough to go in and hit the weights with determination. Keeping focused on that goal alone has given me strength.

Think about not doing sport at all: sitting on the sofa watching tv, stay all the day with your friends drinking and smoking, working without a moment in which you can a moment of freedom to your mind...

I think how good I look hanging out with those cute little Asian girls and how nice/fun it is when they come up to me and want to feel my arms and chest.

Every poster above me had great thoughts on the subject, but for me it is mainly hanging out with fitness minded folks or discussing fitness related topics that keeps me motivated and focused. Like bigrich4 said that is why this site is a good source if you don't have real life friends to lean on for the motivation.

I do have to say that I envy those that have kept the motivation up and strong for year upon years that is truely a feat.

Its all psycological man, just put it in your head that its something you do, like shi.t, piss, go to work. Some people are just naturally more motivated then others.

I use all of the above mentioned techniques. It helps a ton too to have a training partner, someone who is counting on YOU to be there for them. Days that I am feeling down or just don't wanna do it, my training partner can motivate me. I certainly don't wanna look like a Nancy in front of my peeps. Some heavy metal, talking about lifting and exercise all work. Great posts from above.

I fight as well, so if you are a fighter or maybe wanna try it, just think that this training session is gonna be the one that your opponent skips out on, and how bad you're gonna make him pay for it. That always gets me motivated. You can apply that to any sport, football, soccer, etc. Just think how foolish you're gonna make your opponent look because he hasn't put in the sweat equity you have.

Now go to the gym and CRUSH THAT SHIT

Eye of the tiger. Its song 1 on the ipod and mandatory training music. Know that you'll have 'off' days where you can't train with 100% intensity. If that happens cut out a couple sets and nail the ones you do. Having a partner, even if its only once a week, helps.
