GRETNA, La. — Rapper Corey "C-Murder" Miller has been sentenced to life in prison for his second-degree murder conviction.
District Judge Hans Liljeberg gave Miller the mandatory life sentence on Friday, days after the rapper was found guilty of the 2002 killing by a Louisiana jury.
The 38-year-old Miller was convicted of shooting 16-year-old fan Steve Thomas at a now-closed nightclub in Harvey.
It was the second time that a jury convicted Miller in the case, but a 2003 conviction was overturned.
Miller has been in jail after pleading no contest to two counts of attempted murder in a separate altercation at a nightclub in Baton Rouge in 2001.

Ok I am going to first start off by saying I am a black man & no I didn't grow up in the "ghetto" I grew up in a middle class suburban town. I am college educated have never sold drugs & have never been in prison.
I do understand that some black people give us other black people a bad name but I truly think the environment that you grow up in has a major part on your morals & how you turn out when you get older.
For all of you so called "not racist" that posted previously... I ask you these questions if you grew up in the "ghetto" no matter a black ghetto or white ghetto I bet you would have turned out different. Us as people become what we see on a daily basis.

When white people go on killing sprees and shoot up churches, schools, gyms, etc. (which they do in disproportionate numbers than any other race), how come none of you white people post on this board "WTF is wrong with white people?".
As a matter of fact when the latest gym shooting incident was posted on this forum, nobody, not even minorities, pointed out that the guy was white and white people do this kind of stuff all the time. Why, because we all looked at the individual crime not trying to rubber stamp an entire race.
And I don't believe everyone is racist. I believe everybody is prejudice to a certain extent. There is a huge difference between racist (the belief of racial superiority), and prejudice (the preconcieved opinoin or feeling).

The thing I've noticed that makes a big difference is the type of upbringing there is. Speaking in generalities, if a white person, Hispanic person, black person, or an Asian person grows up with little supervision or in a tough environment such as poverty or whatever else.. Their whole life is affected for the worst in most cases.
Poverty levels are prevalent in minority neighborhoods so you will generally see minorities committing crimes. I have had friends that are black that were raised in rich neighborhoods and friends that have been raised in total don't look people in the eye ghettos and the mind set is night and day. The same goes for my white friends and my hispanic friends and my Asian friends.
Everything falls in the hands of the parents and the way they bring their kids up. If parents don't teach and practice right from wrong then the kids will get worse and worse. Parents need to set a strong example of educated and strong work ethic to their kids to slow this down. A lot of parents, however were raised in these environments as well though so they don't even know any better. My point is, it's not the race it's the society in which they are brought up in. That's my 2 cents

I would agree with you there, it does seem that Whites commit more calculated homicides (ie: serial killings, mass public shootings) while Blacks seem to stick more to drive by shootings, robbing and stealing.
