    New guy having diet troubles...

I have been trying to follow the sticky bulking diet from this site and have an issue. I am typically so busy I dont have time to be in the kitchen so much. Is there a way I can follow this regimen while outside the house? i.e. restaurant items that still follow the guidelines.

For example, today I needed a pro/carb meal, and had no time to go home for food. I went to a restaurant and all I could find was fried chicken/rice/mashed potatoes/and lima beans. The problem I had with this was the grease in the chicken. I removed the skin, but still....

Anyone have ideas on how to maintain this diet while out and about?

    simple.

prepare your food the night before, and take it with you in tupperware.

I take tupperware with me everywhere. I was just at a family reunion and everyone was eating greasy cheeseburgers, while I ate my chicken and veggies out of tupperware.

Tupperware is the key! I bring 3 chicken breasts and a nice salad in them every day. Its all about making the effort to eat the right things.

I am really just worried that restaurant dishes are full of crap that I don't want to eat. Like the grease in the chicken. Also, the gravy for mashed potatoes. I just know it was made of pure lard.

Yes, they are. I was at 175 after my first cycle a couple years back, but suffered from an illness and lost massive amount of weight. Im now getting it back. I'm a bit of an ecto, so its tough.

I suggest taking a trip to the diet forum and getting some feedback there first.

You most likely will be able to pack on some more muscle naturally with solid diet and training program than gear.

I have been reading in that section for a long time. I feel I have read all the important threads in there. Not much left to read. I am still gaining, im just giving myself a little leg up with the gear.

I made sure to read for a while before I made my first post to avoid asking stupid diet questions which I suppose I have anyway. haha

You may have read alot but eat you are not implimenting what you are reading much. Eating mashed potatoes wtih greasy chicken and gravy is hardly a meal anyone would consider good for dieting.

It was once. And it felt nasty. That is the reason I made the post. There isnt much info in the Diet forum about restaurant food.

I hated it at first too. Ive never been the guy that cooks. Ive been married for 14 years, and my wife is great at that.
When I got serious about my diet, I started cooking myself. I actually find it enjoyable now. Im not that great at it, but I like to try new things. I usually cook enough for 2 days each time, and I cook later in the night when the kids are in bed. Try it......strap on your ipod, and rock out.
    Shake, and Bake.

Tupperware and home cookin should start to be your new best friends, I bake 4 chkn brsts and huge pots of brown rice and yams every other night so my meals are ready, just throw it in some tupperware or pyrex dish and you're good. Like Tjohn said, it might suck at first but you'll get into it.

Yea, I tried it today. It was 4 Chicken breast, 2 cups brown rice, and 3 cans of lima beans. I also grabbed a big can of tuna just in case i needed a change of pace. I'm still trying to figure out what in my diet is making me so bloated.
