Unhappy The Economy has finally put me in a choke hold

I love strength training and bbing, but iv come to a snag economically

My dad is a master electrician who usually makes over 200k a year and that's a bad year...

this year he's been on his ass so my brother and i have been paying the mortgage and bills..

who cares right?? it's family.. you willingly bleed for family...

    well, shit just got worse..

my brother had to take a pay cut and im streching the dollar thin here guys..

im gonna have to give up alotta things, including my 4k calorie diet..

and with school starting in 3 weeks and my hours getting cut, this means i have to use my financial aid money to pay the mortgage...

what a shitty time to get accepted to a great but expensive university....

im going to lose alot of what i worked so hard to gain...

but i'd give anything to see my family and im not willing to sell or give up the house we live in.. we built it with our own sweat and tears

im just frustrated.. thx for letting me vent...

You are a really good guy. I admire you a lot for the sacrifices you're taking and putting your family first. More people need to think about others instead of themselves. Wish you the best of luck with everything.

Sometimes are priorities are blinded by our own goals. Glad to see this has not happened to you and you still know whats truly important. Karma can be a bitch but it has a way of becoming your best friend when it's deserved as well. Good things will come your way J3.

Honestly man I just had a really good talk about this with my folks the other day.
And I really wish other people had the opportunity to have parents as good as mine (not impying anything lol.. seriously)

But my side of the conversation was all about money money money. The economy this the economy that.
And as cliche as it effn is. My mom brought up the "money can't buy happiness" arguement.

    And its SOO TRUE.
They were telling me stories about when they were young and poor (parents had migrated from Italy and had no money). How they didn't even have their own bathroom, had to use a public one for years.

How they always lit candles to save money on electric.
How they were always bundled up during the winter cause they didn't have heat.
How they had to struggle just to get food on the table.

BUT WHAT SHOCKED ME WAS THIS.

They said that was one of the happiest times in their life, BECAUSE they had their family, (most my parents close relatives are deceased now) but it really made so much sense.

Some of the best times in my life too have been in moments of immense adversity. Because its THOSE times, when you don't have the car you want, or the clothes you want, or your freedom (was my case) that you start to look at the few things you do have. And you realize "WOW", you really don't need anything else in life to be happy.

And I don't know what you have. But I know I have one of the awesomest families I could ever ask for. We get along great, we always know how to make light of a bad situation and still have fun.

It really sucks being stuck for cash (especially when you gotta use financial aid to pay the mortgage I know thats gotta be killing you). But if you believe your family is strong, then you also NEED TO KNOW that your family will NEVER fail at this thing called life. You will always come together as a force of blood, for each other, when times get rough.

And money is nice, but I'm telling you, it really does not make you happy. What makes you happy is when you realize what great people you have in your life and how fortunate you are to have that. Cause a lot of people don't, but you really sound like you do.
My folks came from nothing, and had to go through more shit then I will ever have to go through (because I came from something). Today they have a beautiful house, their grand children, the few hobbies that make them happy (boating, fishing, watching the grand kids, horse racing for my dad) and you can just tell that the crap YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT NOW, is the **SAME EXACT CRAP** they went through to make them the exceptional people they are today.

So be happy in the fact that this is whats happening to you now.
And focus on the things in life that really matter. (not saying your not now, just saying you may need to *re*focus)
