    White Rice vs. Brown Rice

Hey fellas. I'm on a bit of a cutting diet, but like most guys here, I'm looking to maintain some mass and muscle. I've been eating plain white rice (which I hate lol), but I have this buddy that constantly gives me hassle about it because of the high glycemic levels and tells me to swtich to brown. What do u guys prefer and why?

Personally, I prefer brown rice. It has a lower glycemic score, plus I think it tastes better.

I would ditch rice altogether, as it lacks nutrients in general. Try sweet potatoes, or quinoa, black beans, lentils, buckwheat, red potatoes (for PWO).

Brown rice does have the benefit of added fiber to your diet. However, if you must chose between the brown and white rice > Brown is best.

White rice is a complex carb, however it has been refined as a starch. If you're looking to maintain or build mass, it would be acceptable to utilize for PWO, IMO.

i often use basmati rice, meant to have a lower GI value than brown rice itself. As for your above question sweet potatoes are lower GI than reg potatoes

Here an idea, if you have a rice cooker, add 1 cup brown rice one cut up potatoe one cut up sweet potatoe, when cooked add a tin of tuna mix and enjoy. makes a good afternoon snack.
