whey protein is fast absorbing compaired to whole foods... pwo this would be ideal since your body is in need of amino acids... you could not drink whey and replace it with pasturized egg whites if it makes you feel better...

    remember

whey takes about 1 hour to digest

chicken fish and turkey take about 3-5 hours

    beef can take 18-24 hours..

im sure you get the idea..

    hope this helped..

Many people use them for convenience. If you are getting the majority of your calories from whole foods a couple meal replacement drinks per day is not going to set you back. I utilize them quite a bit if I am traveling and sometimes my jaw is just tired of chewing food all day long.
I dont think you are going to get an argument form anyone that whole foods are the way to go but I think the overall negative view of meal replacement powders is a bit overdone and unwarranted.

alot of people need 2grams of protein for each pound of muscle. im not sure about your diet but i sometimes have trouble reaching that on some days because of school and work so the shakes really help on those days. also some people dont eat enough in general and have protein shakes instead (not encouraging this but its true)
