I was thinking a more breakfast, fast thing to do.
Sweet potatoes, yams, brown rice are all fine.. But not for breakfast I think

grits and cream of rice?? never used both.. i am under the impression it has a high gi.. check it out and let me know
i eat 2 cups of grits with my eggs every morning along with a grape fruit it works great for me

i find oats upset my stomach, but not if i blend them with protein powder and soya milk throw a bannana in happpy days a good meal.

Quinoa, amaranth, ezekial bread, oat bran, cream of wheat, barley...so many options.
But what you need to do is figure out why you are having a reaction to oats and what kind of reaction.
