I have not, but always considered it in the back of my mind.
There a lot here who are in or have been in the armed forces of some sort. I do believe there are a few threads on them also.

    Good luck!

infantry....you can get nvq's in public services ect.

When joining you make a 1st 2nd and 3rd choice, basically when i do my medical if i dont pass, say if i dont make the running time or struggle with the straight arm pull ups. i can try for my 2nd choice which will have different requirements.

But a mile and half in 10.30secs is hardly difficult lol

NVQ's aren't worth the paper they are written on. WTF is the point of going to a shithole in the mountains where most people don't like or want you, gettng shot at and bombed?

Somewhere between 1 in 10 and 1 in 4 (depending on which report you read) of single homeless people in England are ex forces!

About 12,000 veterans are on probation or parole, representing 6 per cent of the total, while 8,500 are in prison, representing 8.5 per cent of the jail population, according to the report by the National Association of Probation Officers (Napo).

The figures suggest that more ex-servicemen and women are in the criminal justice system of England and Wales than there are troops serving in Afghanistan.

    Just somethig to think about!

If you do decide to do it, make sure you get an MOS (job) you WANT to do and will have pride in doing, otherwise you're going to hate it.

It is better to be on the dole than dead!! I would try and aim a litte bit higher than one of the "cannon fodder" regments. Have you tried the RAF recruitment office?

Not all the RAF trades need high grades. There are plenty of non technical trades required. It may be worth you popping in for a chat with the recruitment guys.

just dont rush in mate.....way up all your choices first...look at it as a career...what do you want to be doing in 5 or 10 years time....what will pay good money? etc etc... its not just the death rate mate.......what a bout the perminently injured......my mate watched 2 friends die and 1 lose his legs in a road side bomb......he came away lucky with just leg wounds....hes one of the toughest muther fukas i know and he gets nitemares and flash backs....

Well Dan I served for 18 1/2 years from the age of 16 1/2 in the RAF and I would always recommend the RAF over the army as a way of life!

Absolutely ... the dead get a good send off in England (for the moment) but the injured are hidden away and forgotten and given MISERLY compensation .... basically thrown to the wolves.

They have even done away with the forces hospitals and the injured are in civvy hospitals where they have been abused by Muslim visitors to the wards!! Unfcukinbelievable

What kind of "everyday bullshit" did you have to put up with?
