type II diabetic need some diet help

I have recently been diagnosed as a type II diabetic and could use some advice on how to control diet. When I wake up my morning numbers are around 100-110. i take glipizide in the morning along with zocor at night and metformin x 2 daily. any help would be greatly appreciated. I have questions like daily carb amount? Daily sugar amount?

Forget about sugar. Its all about carbs. It also depends on your fitness level. If you dont move around or exercise, you know just kinda chill then you cant handle as many carbs.

But if you are active then you can have alittle more. Nobody here is your Dr but I am also type 2 diabetic and can give you an idea of what I eat (but you have to figure out what is right for you)

I eat some oats in the morning wich is about 35 carbs combines with the pb I do with it. Then almost another 30 or so carbs pre workout. Then another 35 or so carbs post workout.

The rest of my meals are real low carbs, like I'm only gettin carbs from vegetables. So were talking under 10 g of carbs per meal easy.

If your working out or doing something to stay active 4-5 days a week (I would lower the carbs on non workout days) then you should be OK.

But I dont know how your body works because everyone is different. Just try a meal with some carbs then wait 2 hours and check your sugar.

Your sugar will spike in that time but at the 2 hour mark if it is higher then 130 then you know you either need a smaller portion of whatever you ate or you cant have that.

Just try different things out, you wont die if it gets high a few times while you learn your body.

    Hope that helps

You should ask to a doc; it will know better what you actually need than anyone in this forum who never saw you.
