Starting TRT but want gains also

    Hello,
I am 23 and after a year and a half of struggling to gain muscle, loose fat, and deal with a low sex drive, i finally got health insurance and went to the doc. Found out that my total T level is 225. The doc put me on 100mg test cyp per week.
My main goal is to increase sex drive (for me and my girlfriends sake), and get in shape. I'm not looking to get huge, but i would like to get the muscle definition back that i had in high school and get a little bigger.
I am assuming that the dosage that the doc prescribed will get my levels back up to normal but i would like to take a little extra just to help get back in shape and get my muscle mass back.
How much would you guys recommend taking for this.

Thanks in advance for the comments.

I would stick with that for now.Be careful you might have more blood test soon.Good luck.

Ya, I have another blood test in 3 months. For some reason my doc is pretty cool and said that he wants my T levels to be at the top the "recommended" range due to my age, and if i am a little bit over, then that is ok. So I would rather be a little on the high side than to low.
So on average, what would 100mg/week bring T levels up to if they started out at 225.

At 23 and prescribed TRT? I would be concerned with why your levels are so low at your age? have you cycled in the past? primary or secondary hypogonadism?

I have never cycled before. But my dad was told that he had low T about 7 years ago. Don't know if there is any correlation or genetic relation or if it is just coincidental.

At your age I hope your doctor is looking into other reasons for this. There are other thyroid/gland issues that will cause low test.

exactly. may be a sign of a more serious underlying condition. and i dont understand why docs jump straight to trt without exploring other options. especially at 23.

The doc ordered a battery of blood work including a thyroid test and everything came back normal except for T level and glucose was only slightly elevated, but it was a non-fasting test and i had eaten lunch just before the exam.

When you say Doc I hope you mean Endocrinologist. Most Docs only know the basics and dont know what to really look for even with a full blood panel done.

But next time i go in to see him I will ask him about underlying causes.

But what would 100mg/week bring a Total T starting level of 225 up to?

    Thank you guys alot!

Well right now I am just seeing a general practitioner. I am self-employed and the health insurance i purchased is not the best but is all i can afford. It is supposed to be more of a catostrophic plan. So untill i get another job with better health care, this is what i am stuck with.

You will get good gains, not like you are on cycle but you will see results for sure if you have a good diet and get into the gym regularly. Im sure your libido will be up quite a bit also but dont expect anything for a few weeks.

Check your insurance and see if an endo is covered...

Thank you. I will check tomorrow. I just don't have a lot of coverage for office visits and that kind of stuff. Most of the coverage is for emergency type stuff for broken bones, car accident, and stuff like that but i will check.

    Thanks again. Very much appreciated

Thanks. Does anyone know what my T levels should be from that dosage or does it vary to much from person to person?

I would guess it should be back up in the 500 range or above
