syringe length for deltoid

I know it is preferred to use a 1 inch needle but can you also use a 1.5 inch needle or is that too long?

i have use a 23g 1.5 befor couple of times that is. not no more i just use now a 23g 1'

This is sometimes hard for me to do. It seems to slide in more as I am injecting. I'd use 1in for delts and 5/8 for bi's and tri's.
