How important is benzyl alcohol really for brewing?

I ask because all my hormone is here, its a lot and the shitheads who I ordered my lab supplies from forgot to pack the BA.

I wanted to cook it tommorow I got the filters and benzyl benzoate, just no BA. I'll be cooking up 20gms of test and 5 gms of mast so I really don't wanna mess anything up.

Is it important that I wait till next week for the BA to get here? Or can I brew w/out it or is that risky? I'm gonna try to see if the hobbyshop down the road sells it (I know they sell more common chems) but if they don't what would you do? Wait till next week or just brew without the BA?

    Thanks guys! - Bo

Wait until you get the BA. The BA is what kills the bacteria. Don't ruin all of your gear trying to brew without it.

Yeh thats what I was figuring, I do tend to hear different things though around the net.
Like people playing with different ratios, some people saying the filters are actually what does the sterilizing and the bb/ba just keeps it sterile.

Id still rather not fvck it up.
    Ok second question.
Does anyone have any idea of possible local places that might sell BA?

Like maybe Home Depot sells 100% BA for cleaning or something? Or automotive places?
Maybe under a different name or something?

It would be boiled and filtered before the brew if I need to sterilize it, but if anyone knows any industrial purposes it has or places you can possibly get it local Id appreciate it.

I would definately use BA..... the filter just "filters" the gear - it technically does not sterilize it.....

Not sure on the local BA question..... if I find out i'll let you know

it's about as important as running test with other steroids.

unless you want an infection, i would use it.

Read up on filtering. .22 micron does sterilize.

^^^^ This is correct. Wait for the ba for sure.

I tried to find ba and bb locally a few years back with no luck at all. I went everywhere, including asking some pharmacy techs where i might get some and they didn't have a clue. I wouldn't think about brewing without ba.
