format external hard drive

so i have a 465gb external hard drive i am tryin to format to FAT32 so i can use it with my xbox, i am having alot of troubles and now it doesnt even pop up in the 'computer' tab in the start menu.... i have tried some 3rd party progs and they recognize the drive but cannot format it to fat32... any help?

i have used 'swissknife' , 'fat32Format' programs to try to reformat my external hardd rive... windows will not allow me to do that cuz of the max32gb limit.. there are progs out there that supposedly allow u to bypass that but none that i have found work...

^^ already done that...
the cmd prompt took like 2 hours then when it was done it said it was to big to be fat32

and the swissknife prog isnt working...
