    Pre & Post workout question

    Hi Guys

I wake up at 5:30 and have 30g whey protein & 25g carb (bannana), and some creatine. I then train weights at 6:15. At 7:10 I have 4 egg whites + whey protein - 45g and 25g dates - 20g carbs, BCAA tablets and 1 taplespoon flaxseed oil.

On days that I do cardio I train on an empty stomach and only have the post workout meal.

Are these good options? My BF is 18%.

Cool no carbs after cardio to imrove fat burning then. I will consume the BCAA before training rather than after. I use BCAA capsules.

I would consume the BCAA's before and after morning cardio. If you are using whey protein pwo then it should have enough BCAA's, so no need to add any. If you are going to elminate carbs with your post cardio meal make sure you are taking in efa's w/ protein.

I use flaxeed oil with whey after workout. I also use fish oil at night with a slow release protein. Is this ok?

wouldnt you want to wait about an hour to intake efa's so the protein travels faster? Wont the efa's slow up the process?

On my cardio only days ( today ) Ill have my whey shake right after cardio then about an hour Ill have a pro/fat meal.......jmo.......

Honestly.....I don't know when the best time for EFAs would be. I was hoping you guys can help me out on this one. I have read that you shouldn't try to eat anything in the 45 minute period after cardio training. So I try and stick to it. I use flaxseed oil and fish oil as my EFA supplements. When would be the best time to take these?

Good job pop!! This is what i recommend doing so PWO shake then pro/fat meal the next meal that follows you can add the carbs back. Also i sip on my BCAAs while doing cardio and workout i use XTEND green apple it keeps me filling full and also keeps my false energy levels high.

I use to be under the same notion as you as far as efa's slowing down absorption pwo but I have recently had a change of opinion thanks to C_Bino. On cardio only days (low intensity cardio that is), he suggest taking in protein w/ a small amount of efa's pwo.

Hell ya take some EFA's with your protein after training. You think some EFA's are going to slow digestion that much?

The point is ALWAYS to comsume some source of energy with your protein, I would never recommend taking protein alone without carbs or fats...unless on a very specific protocol with certain peptides, which I dont believe is the case here.

I wouldnt be recommending using a whey shake here anyway, whole food for cutting is better but for those who use it definitely keep the fats in there. They are gonna aid in recovery, oxygen delivery to muscles, anti-inflammatory, increase protein synthesis etc. Why you wouldnt want to take advantage of its obvious qualities after a workout...Im not sure.

Ive just started implementing fats PWO on myself,i have cut out carbs PWO and added udo's choice to the PWO meal we shall see what happens. While there are many different takes on PWO nutrition, im curious to see how this works for me.

You will like it for sure. And that is the best way to find out...try for yourself. It's why I am so damn confident with any advice I give, I DO IT.

So people can argue with me until the end of time, until they try it they are just reading shit that other people posted online...and those people that posted, did THEY try it either?

There are absolutel benefits to consuming an energy source with your protein, no need to consume it alone ever in most circumstances.

Its one of the main reasons people feel sluggish or irritable on low carb diets, they say they have no energy. Well ya your not f*cking eating any energy. You are having protein and then your body is trying to convert that into glucose. Fats give you the most ATP for every turn of the Kreb's cycle...yes more than carbs. So take your EFA's and central fatigue will be reduced greatly.

I go on zero carbs a day and feel fantastic, sure you start to look flat when dieting and feel like a pathetic dick but your actual energy and mood is great.

Always put some energy with your protein. Fish oil will be like putting 97 octane in your engine.

should I have mixed emotions here? 2 great theories from 2 different people who know what theyre talking about. Well personally, I tried to do Binos' way by cutting the carbs and using efa's instead for a week and had a huge drop in my daily energy. That had to change. Now as far as going with Topher's idea of nothing but whey for pwo I have been doing for about a week and feel fine. Then about an hour later Ill have my regular meal with fish oil.

I guess we'll just have to use whatever works on us and use the advice as guidelines..thanks guys!

POP I think C and i are both correct, we do what works best for each of us.Im testing it to see how my body reacts. I may not do well with it,and if so ill revert back to what i did prior. If you feel better doing it the way you are now then stick with it....TOP
