    Preventing that "urge" or "binge eating"

    hi guys;

    quick question - my diet is spot on with regards to macros and my training is going really well. i've seen significant fat loss and am happy with my progress.

    however, i am struggling with one thing and that is fighting the urge and having a 30 minutes binge on things NOT in my diet. during the day i am at work, so i prepare all of my foods and am 100% clean. i even have my cheat meal setup on saturday night when i go out with my wife. the problem i am having is that 1x a week at night, i eat pretzels, have some chips, etc ...and kill my macros for the day within 30 minutes when i'm home after i work out. my determination is there 95% of the time, is that last 5%. sometimes on the weekend my cheat meal bleeds out to sunday during football and it becomes a cheat day or day 1/2. horrible.

    what do you guys do to prevent this? my wife buys the chips because well .. she's the wife, and i've tried to keep this type of food out of the house but it just won't happen. i know if you dont have it in the house you won't eat it; but in my household, its not possible.

    any techniques you guys use to overcome these urges mentally? its a mental thing. help!

    Embrace what you've just done to your diet by cheating and deal with it. Go do an hour of high intensity cardio, you'll burn whatever pretzels/buffalo wings or whatever.

    It sounds to me like your diet is not 100% You sound like a person thats not eating frequently enough,the binge occurs when blood sugar levels drop usually. Thats when you are raiding the house for anything to put in your mouth post up your diet and lets take a look shall we! Also there are hundreds of fun foods you could eat on your diet that taste way better than pretzels! If you ever had one of my wife's protein muffins or protein brownies or cake batter you would never go back to chips and pretzels!....TOP

    Mind getting the recipe and posting it Top? I made casein canolies this morning and can't wait to eat one tonight. After last night's chocolate/pb cheat meal success, I'm finding myself obsessed w/ healthy sweets and I haven't had a muffin in months.

    For me the arrive home and panic snack thing has nothing to do with hunger. Its a habit like a smoker and coffee. My suggestion is make yourself a cup of very hot green tea the second you walk through the door, or ask your wife to have it ready for you. Makes a TON of difference. Will easily buy you 30 minutes of saftey.

    I agree with TOP. If you're binging because you're actually hungry, your diet is OFF. I find I obtain more hunger satisfaction from dense carbs (sweet taters, oatmeal, etc) and meat (preferably high(er) fat meats like red meat). You add more of these and do it right and you WILL NOT binge nor have the urge to. Now if its more of a phchological thing (eating even when your not hungry), like above mentioned: self disipline my man. Just remember, binging on the wrong foods is destructive to the physique.
