I want to make sure that i'm being as accurate as possible when calculating my macros and total daily calories. So please confirm (or tell me i'm wrong) the 2 following statements:
1) Foods containing incomplete protein (beans, bread, etc.) should not have their protein considered when adding up protein macros for a meal. Example - 6oz of chicken breast is 36g of protein; if I eat that with a 1/2 cup of kidney beans, that's an additional 8g of protein - however total protein for that meal would still be 36g, correct? Having said that - should I STILL be counting the calories for that 8g of protein - so even though the protein is incomplete, I am still getting 32 calories from it?
2) When calculating carbs, fiber should not be counted towards total carbs. Example - 1/2 cup of oats contains 27g carbs. label lists 4g of dietary fiber - 2 soluble and 2 insoluble. So total carbs for this meal should be 25g since we're not counting the insoluble fiber, correct? Additional, I should NOT be counting the calories for the insoluble fiber, right?
The point is that alot of the foods i'm eating contain incomplete protein, and insoluble fiber. Because of this, when I hit my target macros for the day, my calories are way over my target due to the present but 'unusable' macros. Please advise!
