low calorie ketogenic diet, gaining muscle?

I've been on a very low calorie ketogenic diet to cut fat quickly and burn muscle. I always thought that having calories this low would burn muscle, but a friend convinced be to try it- that you don't use any muscle or strength.

My diet is mostly proteins & vegetables, minimal minimal carbs, <20-30g a day, sodium as low as possible, 1.5 gallons+ water per day.

The first week was brutal, I felt like I had the flu or something. I couldn't work out even if I tried. About 8 days in, my urine was testing positive for high ketones and I was very much in ketosis. I also felt absolutely incredible, more energy than I could have expected.

It's now been about a month, I've lost 17lbs of fat- I don't think I have lost ANY muscle whatsoever. I can do cardio for an hour and not be exhausted, this week I'm going to get back on to lifting weights. I still have another 15 or so lbs to lose.

I've tried a million diets and they have never worked like this one, so I'm going to try something different. I'm going to go against what almost everyone on the forum and attempt to make some sort of muscle gains over the next four weeks, while still keeping to this diet.

weeks 1-4 while I'm still trying to cut fat, I'm going to lift weights and try and put on muscle.

weeks 5-8 I'll be adding 100mg of SARMS (50mg x 2daily) to see how it affects everything.

My question is this --> has anyone tried to do a clean bulk while on a ketogenic diet?
I'll be posting my results on this thread.

Not sure why you would want to burn muscle bro???

    Also don't stop lifting wghts!!

Lift and youll burn even more calories... Id say it's safe
to say that 1/2 of what you lost is water wght.

Do you still look better? FOR SURE! Not a knock at all
as I see the same results...

No after that lil ramble... my BEST gains (lost fat and
gained muscle) came from takin Prop/Tren while eating
    a LOW carb diet

Only time I consumed carbs was PWO shake in the form
    of dextrose

Start lifting again... and good luck!!

awesome! must have been a misunderstanding- i definitely have not lost any muscle. i think sometimes people assume they are burning muscle because the tissue is marbled with fat, and you're burning that fat.

now that I have energy i'm going to start lifting hard again- will post resutls!

It would be wise for you to look into a Cyclical Ketogenic Diet if you are wanting to stay on it and gain muscle. For 6 days or so you keep with the ketosis diet then for 1 or 1 1/2 days you carb load. Look into it.There are a few places that help with this. Lyle mcdonalds website is one,i dont fully agree with everything he says but thats another thread. body recomposition is the site i beleive and the diet is called the ultimate diet 2.0. Hope this helps.......TOP
