    Ab training

How many times aweek do you guys train your abs? How many situps aday would you do? I've never trained abs before people keep telling me to do 1000 situps aday that would take atleast an hour don't really want to spend that much time. Just got my body weight down to 12%

1000/day c'mon now man! lol! And how did you get 12%?

Anyways, I personally train them m/w/f. Your abs are muscles just like your chest, back, etc and also require rest to rebuild.

As far as exersizes, there are so many to choose from. However, whatever you choose be sure to use slow, controlled movements to ensure proper form.....way more effective than 1000 sit-ups/day....

POPS is right. Abs don't recover any quicker than any other muscle group, just because they are smaller, or you use them more frequently in daily activities.

Work them hard once or twice a week, and keep that diet and cardio in check if you want to see them.

abs recovery time is debatable, however nobody trains abs like they do legs or chest or back. Do only 4 sets for abs and you can do them more than once a week easy. I do them twice a week no more.

abs muscles are just like any other muscle, it needs to recover so i agree with Twist, no more than twice a week...when i do abs they stay sore two days after, so twice a week is about right, if done properly...

I hit them once a week really hard. Hitting upper abs, lower abs and obliques separately. Doing 2 exercises (2 to 3 sets per exercise - 12 reps per set) per region. Doing everything weighted if possible.

Then I end with some frog crunches, fast with high reps. Works great for me!

I do weights every Mon-Wed-Fri so I do abs after that, so 3 times a week. 4 sets of decline leg raises, 4 sets of decline crunches, 4 sets of side bench oblique crunch

when you guys do hanging leg raises, try to use the pullup bar so your hands are above your head. this pulls your ribs out. Also Breathing with abs is very important. slow and steady reps, no swinging and my secret technique:

No matter what you are doing BREATH LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO FOG UP A WINDOW, breath loud also. **** how it makes you look and sound in the gym just do it. loud and on every rep. start breathing before you start the rep and try to end after the rep stops, while inhaling on the way down. This forces your abs flat and makes the work harder. If done correctly you will not be able to do the same weight you did before, because this targets your abs.
