1.) Costco or SAMs membership! "Ex: 6 dozen eggs ~$5, gallon of whites for ~$7"

2.) Buy whole cuts of meat and cut them yourself.

    3.) Bulk bags of grains

4.) Look for sales on meat at every store in town. ( ex: I got sirloin steak the other day at costco for $2.99/lb already sliced)

5.) If you live close to/in a rurual area "Go hunting"

As for whole chicken vs. Tuna, Chicken is much cheaper. Tuna is getting expensive. Add up what a pound of drained canned tuna will cost you now days.

Costco - whole chickens are like $5.

Dude, you're lucky as HELL that your wife takes care of it for you! I love those chickens but hardly ever buy them because they're too much of a pain in the @ss to cut up, messy, etc.

Your making this whole chicken thing harder than it is. You can do it 2 ways that are very simple to do. 1. Cook the whole chicken then pull it all off the bone at once, put in fridge. 2. Get a good pair of kitchen shears and cut it up. Either on of these methods take less than 2 mins to do and require little kitchen skills.
