What type of diet for someone who refuses to cook?

I'm a personal trainer and I have this big fat guy who has been with me a month. If I could trade him for someone else I would. This guy was 327 lbs when he came to me a month ago, I weighed him yesterday and he's still 327 lbs. So I'm kind of frustrated because I've done a diet for him that in no way would not work. So I sit him down yesterday and ask him whats going on. Well, now the truth comes out. He was telling me he was sticking to my diet, then all of a sudden it goes to "I have fallen off the wagon on the weekends" then it goes to "I've been eating lean cuisines in place of all the chicken, fish, steak meal" He tells me that he does not have the same luxury as I do, and he refuses to cook, that cooking will not happen so I better give him something to follow other than a prepared food meal. I'm sitting there thinking of how this lard has told me he goes to happy hour every Fri. for 2 hours to eat and drink (I thought that was his cheat meal, evidently there are many more. And when I say drink I mean 4-5, 22 oz beers) but a guy like this doesn't have time to cook. He's off every weekend but he "doesn't have the luxury I do to cook" I wanted to be straight up with him and tell him to come back and see me when he's serious, but I cant do that b' I need the money right now. So what type of diet could anybody recommend to a 330 lb lazy fat **** who is too lazy to cook? I'm about to just tell him to follow Jared's subway plan

What you want to do make him a program based on the Subway diet combined with the all new Taco Bell Drive thru diet!!

Seriously, If he refuses to cook put him on that Nutra system crap diet or something that will give him "prepared" portion controlled diet. I'd kick him to the curb and use the time you would be wasting with him to get 2-3 new clients.

Or theres always the tried and true method

That's a sucky situation, and I wish you could afford to just let him go. I think you need to stick to your guns and tell him that he came to you for help; you shouldn't have to compromise what you know is right to fit his lazy lifestyle. If you're his personal trainer, you're going to have to be honest with him, and tell him what you think about his 'lack of time' and happy hour and all that... the truth hurts but it MIGHT just make it click for him too. Yeah well if you need the money and he won't do anything right or follow your plan... he hasn't commited and no matter what you do he isn't going to follow it... he's still making excuses and he will continue doing so until he commits...

My advice... just enjoy working with him, taking his money, and don't worry about his progress... he knows why he's not gunna made leaps and bounds... it's all his fault and even if he does blame you for not making major progress... which he may very well do because he makes excuses... who cares...

Clearly this person doesn't have the required motivation. If cooking wasn't the excuse, something else would be. Take his money while you can, don't risk losing it by telling him what you really think, it won't matter.

yes, exactly what I was thinking. This is the type of guy who just wont get it, I could tell him to get a 6" subway sandwich on wheat and after 2 days of that he's going to say screw it and get the footlong meatball on italian. One way or another, he wont do anything.

Also, I suggested Nutra System for him, he told me he had already tried it and it didn't work for him. I know thats bullshit, because that diet is only like 1200 calories/day, anyone over 300 lbs would drop weight fast on that.

Tuna on brown every single day.

BTW, Jared (from subway) is kinda getting large again. I saw him in a commercial, and he is looking porky-piggy once again...

You're a trainer mate.. Unfortunately some people need some hard loving. If you don't stick to your guns he's going to end up leaving you as a client anyway (obviously won't be happy with his progress).. Sit him down, look him in the eye, and ask if he's honest about wanting a change. If you need to let him know the statistics on heart disease etc that he will be facing all too soon. If you upset him, he's going to walk anyways, at least you told him what he needed to hear. If you don't, other people will be looking at you and thinking your professionalism has been compromised. Which is worse? one client or all of your clients?
