    Confused about Milk

    I have always used no fat skim milk to add to my protien intake when trying to bulk. (I go by the 1.5g of protien per 1 lbs of body wieght)
    Now I have read some things that say stay away from milk as a tool to boost protien intake.

    Anyone help me out with this?? Is it good or not?

    Look at the label. Milk has more carbs than protein. I use skim milk for my shakes cause they are way too horrible with water. I didnt know milk had so many carbs til recently. Now i drink water with meals and save the milk for shakes only.

    carbs are just as important as protien when bulking...i can think of a lot worse things than milk.....if you are cutting then i say stay away from milk but for bulking milk is ok imho....

    Milk is ok. especially when bulking. I advocate the use of WHEY (and any other milk derived protein) to be mixed with at least a little milk.

    Thanks for all the replys guys.
    Sounds like I wasn't to far off base here after all. I have been using it the same way you are saying... with the shakes instead of water. (and 1 or 2 glasses here and there if I need it to reach my daily goal).

    BTW.. i should have mentioned I was talking about on and off cycle but that probably doesn't make a dif.

    Lactose is a very slow digesting carb...so as long as you aren't lactose intollerant and poop your pants it's one of the better carbs you can take into your body.

    i find it makes me look bloated---but then again after 2 or 3 days i quit using it for that reason---maybe if i stayed with it the bloat may have resided, idk

    I used it for over a year, dropped it for a couple of weeks, gagged over my shakes mixed with water, and am now back on it.

    Granted, it's not human milk - but it's what we grow up on, it can't be bad. It has a perfect carb/protein balance, and as another member above said - your body doesn't process lactose the same way it does sucrose or dextrose, etc. so don't worry about the 12g of carbs/sugar per 8oz.
