Injection swelling

This might not be in the right section but i'm gonna go for it anyway. So normally after i inject i rub the injection site to sort of spread the oil around. Well, i guess i didn't do it long enough this time. Does anybody know any tips, tricks, or methods to help with the knotting/swelling?

No but first time i've had the problem. This is my 3rd cycle. Like i said before it usually isn't an issue but i guess i didn't spread it long enough or somethin. I heard that a heat pack is a good idea, and i also heard thats the worst thing you could do....so thats why i'm trying to get some clearification so i don't really screw myself up.

You should actually avoid rubbing the site. It used to be proper to rub it, but then they found out that rubbing can actually aid in irritation and swelling of the site. You will be fine with not rubbing it. If you want to help with the knots... try running hot water over the syringe before you inject it. Just make sure you don't get water on the needle as it can become unsteril. Also try injecting at a much much slower rate. Try between 1-3minutes to get the syringe cleared and in your system.

Ok i could try that. I'll inject slower next time, no problem. Anything to get rid of the knots now tho?

Not too sure about getting rid of present knots. I would say try ice, but that would just be a guess. If it is a knot as a result of swelling then the ice should stop the inflammation at that site.
It will go away on its own pretty quickly though. I would just avoid that site for maybe a week if you can.

i had a mate with the same problem. was injecting to fast and rubbing it in. he was left with bolges on his arms due to knots.. its best to leave the knot and let it work itself out, should take about a week.

very true! rubbing the injection site actually increases the onset of SCAR TISSUE. my girlfriend is a nurse, mom is a nurse, and dad is a doc, ive heard it plenty of times to NOT RUB, but simply place an alcohol swab over the injection site until the bleeding stops and to ensure no oil comes out. you can also get VERY sore by injecting too many mL's in one spot

narh it hasnt happened to me.. i was just curious weather or not it had anything to do with the swelling. incase it does happen so i know.

It could be the amount you are putting in, or it could have to do with the size of your needle. If you are pinning 2 mls in your glute with a 1 in needle then chances are you are going to have some leakage. There are a couple fixes for this.

1) make sure you are using 1.5 in needles when pinning in the glute... industry standard
2)Z-track your injection... heres some info i wrote in another thread
z-track method
- used for injections of irritating substances.
- technique reduces pain, irritation, and staining of the injection site
method: after choosing and preparing the site for injection, use your nondominant hand to pull the skin laterally and hold it in this position while giving the injection. Insert the needle at a 90 degree angle, aspirate and check for blood, then inject meds slowly. After injecting the meds wait 10 seconds before withdrawing the needle. Withdraw needle and maintain angle. Release the skin immediately after withdrawing the needle to seal off the injection site. This technique forms a Z-shape track in the tissue that prevents the meds from leaking through the more sensitive subcutaneous tissue from the muscle site of injection.
3)air lock... another technique to keep from gear spillage... heres the info
air lock method
method: After withdrawing the desired amount of med in the syringe, withdraw an additional .2ml of air. Be sure to inject using a 90 degree angle. The small air bubble that follows the medication during the injection may prevent the medication from leaking through the needle track into the subcutaneous tissue.

just so you know the air lock method is also good because it will get that extra bit of gear out of the needle that always seems to not come out... good way to get the most out of your gear

wat size needle would u recommend to use in the arm then ?

It depends on how much tissue you have on your delts. I usually would use a 1 in... if you are smaller you can use 3/4th it all depends.

Proper technique for shoulder injection:
1) find greater tuberosity of the humerus with index finger
2)with index finger touching greater tuberosity add middle and ring finger so you are 3 finger lengths down from the head
3)place pinky in a v shape with the bottom finger(ring finger) and that is the proper spot to pin (the skin area between the pinky and ring finger).
* if a friend is pinning you they can pinch the area with the non-injection hand to give more lift to the muscle you are injecting into.
