Thread: 45/35/20 ?

  1. #1

    45/35/20 ?

What would be the diff between a 40/40/20 and a 45p/35c/20f diet? (aside from the extremly obvious)..

Is there a certain reason why it is always 40 40 20 or would my variation be just as good?

Your variation would likely be fine. What cycle is this pct for? Are you including anything else?

It isnt a PCT. I eat very clean, but I never write it down ( even though i have in the past ) and I am just trying to get extra shredded for summer time. I am just working on a diet plan and getting some info before i post what my diet will look like.

This is exactly what i've been doing. I can't see the harm when cutting of getting a bit more protein and a bit fewer carbs...

On a 3000 calorie a day diet this only equates to an extra 37 grams of protein and 37 grams less of carbs. You should be just fine with that, not enough to make a real noticable difference either way IMHO.

what about on an 1800-2000 cal diet.. same thing?

That would reduce it down to about a 25g swing from carbs to protein.

I understand that, but would there be much a dfference? I always eat pretty clean, but i have gotten pretty low BF from not writing anything down. So i wrote down for a few days what my cals would look like when i go more strict than usual with dieting and it came out like this (about): 60p/20c/20f at an average of about 1850cals a day. Would there be a more noticeable diff in a 40/40/20 or a 45/35/20?

The reason my carbs were so low is because I would only have carbs in the morning, PreWO and PWO and then all my other meals would consist of about 12 carbs or less.

40/40/20 is pretty standard for most. However some people including myself get soft pretty easily from carbs, so i stick to 45-35-20. Just experiment and find what works for you and your goals.

Yea i usually eat low carbs. I feel like this works better for me. But if i usually only have 20% of my cals from carbs and I up it to 35% what would be the diff? I understand people like 40/40/20, but i never really understood where those numbers came from and why.

Is this 40/40/20 used to maintain weight? Or is it used to cut..? Or is it either or, depending on what your cal restrictions are?

Also, what do you think is better guys. What I did:

    my meals (only carbs though):

    Meal1: > 40 carbs
    Meal2: < 12
    Meal3: < 12
    Meal4: < 25 (Pre WO)
    Meal5: > 30 (PWO)
    Meal6: < 12

I may have 7 meals some days and my workouts dont always fall between those meals, but was just an example. I stated above I wrote my cals out for a few days while eating strictly and cleanly and my macros came out like this:

    Avg. 1850 cals, 60p/20c/20f

This may look bad but it seems to work for me, however Its been so long since I have tried another diet that I am looking for something new.

was just adding up the carbs i put up there and it didnt rly add up to what i wrote down when i was eating, but it was in that same order, except my other meals were less carbs. My avg carbs a day was around 100
