    Cool food with protien powder

    hey all
anyone know if its ok to eat food after drinking a shake to try to get in long acting protien along with the short acting whey, or is that a waste?
lm talking about pure whey nothing fancy or meal replacements just whey.

i think its ok, but it would be most benificial in the morning.. take a scoop of whey and then get around and make breakfast.

as long as you r hitting ur requirements for your weight dont stress.

but i dont think itd be a big deal, just dont take in a shit load of protien at once...Maximum is 40, in my opinion. 30 is normally optimal.

I started taking 42g of protein with an external carb (oats). I have noticed better results when using PWO versus one scoop of protein alone

The key to taking whey throughout the day (other than in the morn or pwo) is that you need to slow down absorption because whey is so fast acting. How do you this? Well you add some solid foods into the equation. We know that carbs and fats both slow down absorption so pick your poison.

Use Whey for what it is. A quick acting protein.

Use it first thing in the morning (apon awaking) and PWO. Solid food should be used in place of Whey apart from that.

Various protein sources are digested and assimulated at varying speeds, so use that to your advantage too.

    I do exactly that!

I have a crazy work schedule so my bfast is 2 scoops of whey with raw oats. Then my meals start 2-3 hours after that and continues throughout the day.
Depending on the day I will have my shake with or without oats for pwo...jmo.

I used to take in BCAA's in the AM (apon awakening) but I have dropped them recently and not lost any LBM, nor recovered any faster PWO.

I only use them PWO now, with raw eggs, creatine, leucine, beta alanine, omega 3 or EVOO + oats.
