Thread: Guys can you work out twice a day while cycling?

Guys can you work out twice a day while cycling?

I'm not cycling right now, and never have. But I would like to in the future.

My question is, can you workout twice a day while cycling? Is your recovery increased? I know Arnold and Franco and those guys all hit the gym twice a day, I'm sure they didn't hit the same muscle groups, but they could work a muscle group up to 3 to 4 times a week.

Does this go with everyone cycling, or jsut those crazy genetically gifted like arnold and franco? Thanks

I know a lot of guys who do. Personally I like the Dorian Yates style. Warm up, HIT and out of the weight room in less than 1 hour.

Bro, Thats is going to be way over training. You need to rest harder than you train. It took me a long time to figure that out but when i did i made the best gains of my life! I only train 3 to 4 days a week now and have no problem with training every body part one time per week. Good luck!

No that is what I thought you ment...lol

Just saying personally I dont do it that way. I have done but I do get better results using the Yates style work out. Once a day.

    Mon Chest
    Tue Back
    Wedn Bis/tris
    Thurs Shoulders/hamstrings
    Fri Quads/calves
    Sat/sun off
in the weight room no more than 1 hour most times 45min and hammer it hard. I keep the 2 sets to failure but I tend to add some triple drops and/or negatives and rest pause sets. Only hit a few key angles and thats it. Tried tested and true.

Ha nah bro I'm not training like that, I know better. I was just asking if one can train like that while on a heavy cycle.

Like I mentioned above I haven't ever cycled, and I plan on cycling in time, just a Test E to start out with. But I was just asking, if heavy cycles allow athletes to train more often. Does it make muscles recover quicker.

Ok I see what your saying, hit one muscle group in the morning, then the next in the evening.

Ok, so it is impossible for anyone to ever be able to train like that?

That is a lot of training. IMO every 5 day days tops. Exept if u have an arm day. For insance if u do back and wana hit bi's on that day to I'd only do strait bar curls 3 good sets of 12 w sum neggs you know make it hard. Then a few days later on an arm day you'd be hittn your bi's again. Same as chest I'd hit sum v bar press downs. 3 good sets..
    Mon-chest, tri, abbs
    Tue-back, bi, 25-45 min cardio
    Wed-off
    Thurs-leggs, calves, abbs
    Fri-shoulders, 25-45 min cardio
    Sat-arms, abbs
    Sun-off
    That's a lot of work!
Every once in a whyle ill cram 2 days of liften together and cut out cardio.

Overall its your body I'm shure some people hav had good success w your split. Try it for a few weeks and see how you feel. Don't pull a muscle or it will set u wayyyy back.

Try to clear this up, I never had any intention of ever training like this lol.

I was just wanting to know if it is possible on a heavy cycle.

Does a heavy cycle increase recovery time, allowing one to work a routine example like I put above?

I've done 2 workouts a day switching from muscle groups doing about 30-40 minutes per workout.

and I didn't over train, but your always feeling dead because your body is always recovering, I was sleeping 2-3 post-workouts.

my strenght went up atleast 100%+ i've gained about 3 inch per body part, and went from 180 weight to 210, in 2 months.

alot of people told me I would be overtraining and shrinking but this wasn't the case, I've gained soo much strenght from this cycle, and I think it was sucessful cycle.

but I was only able to do this workout for about 1 month and a half, because I was started to get injurys and body parts that weren't healings, mostly tendons weren't able to coop with the constant pressure.

then I droped down to once every day, and now my strenght is increasing again, and all my injurys have mostly healed up, and if I still had time left in my cycle I'd re-do twice a day.

is it advisable? not sure but that's my experience.

Only problem I met is that, sometimes the compound movements are lacking due to stiffness/recovering from other muscles, found this mostly in deadlifts, from my legs,

also shoulders <--- don't work them too hard, because you work them out in chest and the tendons insides are really tender so if your doing heavy on chest and shoulders, you'll basicly end up doing samething I did and hurt your rotator cuff.

just gonna write my workout scheduel,

monday chest am / biceps pm
tuesday tri am / back pm
wed legs am / shoulders pm
thursday calves am / (routine restarts) chest pm

pretty heavy but I loved it.

No, that was just the type of split I like. I would not train twice a day.

As for your question if someone on a cycle could...Yes they could and provided the split was laid out properly and they ate a high protein diet they could make some good gains. If they could keep it up for a long period of time that is another story.

^^^ This is a sign of overtraining!

i dont know why anyone would even consider this, its completely unnessecary, i have at times (when competing) left 14 days between squats, dlifts and benchpresses and thts when i made most gains! you need rest and recovery
