Are carbs a MUST when taking in protein?

Just curious if I should take in some kind of carbs if I decide to eat a can of tuna by itself?

Im not hella cut or anything so I do have fat to burn but not sure if my body will use the fat as energy for protein synthesis or what happens exactly.

Anyone got a good link to answer this question?

Most of the time the carbs will be used for protein synthesis, unless you go long enough without carbs the fat will begin to be used.

Thats what the whole theory behind a ketogenic diet is, you deprive the body of carbs long enough that it will eventually be "tricked" into using fat for energy. Something like that.

Anyways, taking in carbs with protein is not a must, or else they wouldn't make zero carb protein powders.

its not a must---depends on what ur goals are and what time of day it is---i always eat carb source or fat source along with protein

Well Im on a cycle of Test E only right now and was just wondering what would happen if I cut my carbs down from 275g a day to 200g a day

Most of the cut coming after 5pm. Meaning virtually no carbs and still low on fat.

Possibly just meat, caesin protein and some nuts with a tad bit of brown rice or quinoa

    again--depends on ur goals

if u cut back on carbs and dont replace with fat cals u may not get enough cals for the day

Yeah, I mean are you trying to bulk and build muscle or cut fat? I suppose with proper dieting you can do both while cycling Test E.

This is why Im adjusting my diet a tad bit every 5 days to see what works.

Do you guys think I shouldnt be adjusting that often while on cycle? Or am I going about it the right way by doing small adjustments?

So if I replaced 50g of carbs with 25g of say fish oil and olive oil do you think I can acheive fat loss with muscle gain?

    Right now Im consuming
    3,200 cals
    275gP/250gC/125gF 35p/35f/30c split

So Id change it to 275gP/200gC/150gF? I could up the protein 25g and then the fat 15g?

i think u can achieve fat loss at a slight calorie deficit and alot of cardio--i would stick to 40/40/20 split or maybe 40/30/30 split with the right carbs and efas of course
