Yeah he should read the stickies and get more info. Many people go too low on the calories when they start to diet. I think that first he should get the info and check out how other diets here and eat healthy whole food and add greens and eat smaller meals but more often. Maybe he could do the low carb thing. It works for many people but not for me. I don“t get fat from carbs so a diet with healthy carbs fits me more but also with some healthy fat.
It helps if he can write what he usually eats.

He was sent over here from the AAS section as he was asking if gear should be an option for him. Clearly it isn't, so let's try and help the guy out.

Booney - we won't make a diet for you, but we will definitely help you tweak it until it's a good solid diet built around your goals. Read all the stickies in this section. Then take a look at some of the hundreds of diets posted here, and take note of the critiques and changes that people seem to agree on. Also, you need to find what your TDEE is (maintenance calories) so we have some idea of a starting number to work with to build your diet. Start with these basics:

Eat 6-8 meals each day, 2-3 hours apart

Stick with whole natural foods and try to avoid processed junk

Have a lean protein source in every meal. A few examples are boneless skinless chicken breast, turkey breast (not the cold cut), just about any kind of fish (tuna and tilapia seem to be favorites, more on salmon later), bison, lean ground beef (93/7 or better), lean cuts of steak (sirloin, top round/london broil, flank), and many others. Dairy like milk should be eaten sparingly as the sugar content is high. Needless to say, if you DO drink milk, make sure it's skim!

Complex Carb and/or Healthy Fat in every meal - I would personally keep them separate as much as possible, with the carbs in the 1st half of your day, giving way to healthy fats in the 2nd half. Some examples of complex carbs are - whole oats, quinoa, brown rice, yams, sweet potato, lentils and beans, etc. Fiberous veggies such as broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, spinach, leafy greens, brussell sprouts, etc can and should be eaten with as many meals as possible.

Examples of healthy fats are salmon (this is a perfect protein/fat combo meal), eggs (also protein/fat), almonds, cashews, actually just about any nut, also natural peanut/cashew/almond butter, avacado, fish oils, and many more.

There is obviously alot more to this, but those are basics. The wife is rolling her eyes at me now so I gotta run! I'll check back and update tomorrow. Good luck!

And one more thing what would be useful for you and others you are consulting about your diet. The main goal would be ofcourse giving/getting your own tools what works for you. So what i used to do even when i wasn't on diet, or well, i was on somekind of diet almost 24/7 few years back. Gaining mass was my problem, harder than keeping low fat %. Well managed to do those both but it did require lot's of learning. So here's suggestion if you allready haven't done so.

Start keeping diary containing your workouts, how did it go and how did you felt, amount of sleep, general feeling, morning weight (don't worry about some up and down jumps in that, mine can change 10lbs up in day or two but thats just water which will eventually come especially when loading the carb storages), your meals and all with time included. You wont have to be so precise later but at the beginning it will give big advantage for you and others following your process and tuning your diet in long run. And don't get upset if the weight won't go down like smooth line going down, there will be stalling and raises but you will see in the long run that the way is down and you can connect the things together when you read your diary + here's lot's of ppl who can help you very well analyzing the diary you're keeping.

I myself have made diet's in real life for ppl (or rather help them make their own diet) who have shown enough determination to do that and tell about things they are willing to do and things that they would rather keep unchanged as possible. Then its easy to give ideas and motivation stays up, you won't get stress having to go thru something you hate if theres another option available. Goal has always been that those people have actually made their own diet and they have themselves to thank + they can do it anytime later without consulting that much others, they also learn how to read themselves. And they can always check how they did it before from diary

Wish you all the best. Someone said 2 hours between meals but, well that will go sometimes but not as average if you aren't on T3 but it will sure put stain on your stomach, i would also say eating 30-60mins before bedtime suited best for me,one-two whole eggs and rest whites max per day is my recommendation if you eat those, also don't go rocky, you got to boil those, it will actually make the protein's in them "better", etc Good tips anyway, this i just mentioned not cause it would be wrong info, it can be perfect for someone and most "propably" is for gbrice who seems to be in good form with all the respect, but to point out that you have to make your own choices from given options. Just write those down and after two-three weeks you can come up with training/diet/etc. diary and i'm sure you will get loads of suggestions and good tips specifically for you

At your weight i'd go 500 below TDEE. You just need to be VERY certain that your TDEE is in fact what you say, otherwise you could be overeating (I doubt you'd be undereating in th 4-5kcal range).

I would try to aim for 4000 a day if you really want to lose weight.

Hell I would eat as little as possible if it were me.

all kidding aside, once you get so big, I'm sure it can be a real bitch. Health issues (my back hurts just thinking of your weight), clothes, and how the fuk are you supposed to get in anything besides a large truck?
