are raw potatoes and yams ok

    3 separate questions here.

I am thinking NO is the answer , but is it OK (good for you) to eat raw white potatoes post workout for a carb boost. I am thinking your body probably doesnt absorb them very well. I ate cold raw tatter's all the time as a kid, and prefer them over baked.

How about Yams, I have one in the fridge, but havent tried one yet , how would they be raw, how do you cook them?

Avocados .....I have tried one, it was raw and the taste to me wasnt good, but not BAD, its not something I would enjoy eating again though , should I have eaten it differently.

person i would stay away from white potatoes and eat sweet potatoes, great source for complex carbs, and yams are also good for you as well. You can try butternut squash as well. As far as preparing the potato, a fast way to do it rather than baking it is you can get a fork, poke some holes on each side of the potato to let the heat escape as it cooks, stick it in the microwave over for 6-8 minutes on high depending on the weight, usually 200-300g potato takes 7 minutes, then enjoy!

avocados are excellent source of fat as well, they are very good for you in moderation of course. You can also mash it up, mix some tuna with it and have a slice of whole wheat bread or two and make a sandwich, there you would be getting your carbs/protein/ and fats all in one.

post workout, dont eat a raw potato, thats a horrible way to get a boost lol, rather in your post workout shake, mix in 1/2 cup dry oats, it will take some getting used to, but its a great way to get them in there. I personally add a scoop of waximaize complex carb powder which is very sweet, boosts glycogen levels up nicely post workout when mixed with your whey protein, you can add them together.

avocados and tuna doent seem very pleasant, at least not if all avocado's taste like the one I had, should they taste good is the question.

now I have eaten some odd stuff, plain tuna mixed with cheerios was my usual breakfast when leaning down,so am not crying because it "tastes bad"

I thought an oatmeal shake was more for pre-workout and a microwaved "bakers"potato was for post-workout

I think I have have heard that , I think you dont want to eat uncooked skins.I dont know how many raw potatoes I ate as a kid, I probably did it more in the fall when they came from our garden. We are talking around 42 years ago...

I know my mom would slice up some tatters for boiling, and I would take some of the raw ones each time.

Just make sure you are not eating avocado after your workout. Avocado lowers insulin levels and insulin is needed after a workout to optimize your anabolic potential.
