Anyone have a pre-existing skin issue get worse while on gear?

I do not suffer from acne (I sometimes get an occasional pimple here and there but mostly on my shoulder/back area).

My issue is I have seborrheic dermatitis

For those who are unfamiliar, basically my skin gets red and flaky. It does not constantly happen however unfortunately for me it happens on my face.

My dermatologist has prescribed a cream which helps tremendously, usually if I eat well, do not get stressed out and drink lots of fluid I am fine, however it does flare up about 1-5 times a month.

Putting the cream on usually results in 90% of the redness gone, and any itching or irritation is gone.

This cream is a topical steroid so I try to use it sparingly as topical steroids tend to thin out your skin and it's quite easy to build up a tolerance.

I guess the only person who can honestly answer this is someone who has the same skin condition as me. I'm worried the extra activity oil that my skin will secrete possibly causing more redness and discomfort.

If anyone has this condition or can shed some light on this subject it would be greatly appreciated.

I have what I believe in eczema on my face but never had it diagnosed. This is gonna sound stupid but I lather dandruff shampoo all over my head and face about 3 days a week. I use different dandruff shampoos namely a head and shoulders type, one with salycyclic acid 3%, then one called Nizoral. When i get out of the shower I rub a lotion with vitamin E in it all over my face. My symptoms are redness that flakes and eventually forms wounds that ooze if I don't address the condition. It is around my nose which is what makes me think eczema. I really wish I could give you more help; my brother has the exact condition you have. He gets it all over his face and takes a steroid cream for it. He is too .. conservative for lack of a better word to try what I do to handle my condition. I have my condition completely under control with the exception that I am prone to sunburn in the effected areas and must use at least spf 30 if going to be out in the sun for an hour or more. I am on test and am getting bad acne on my shoulders and back but my face is fine overall. I am using palm olive dishwashing detergent on my shoulders to see if it helps. I only did it once and could swear it actually is working. Remember what I said about the lotion with Vitamin E though if you do what I said. Its hard on the body to attack it with an abrasive substance and not give it a good lotion to follow up.

Right on! Thanks for the reply.

Google seboorheic dermatitis you might be surprised to see that you explained some of the same symptoms.

There are all different 'levels' so to speak. The fact that you use a dandruff shampoo on your scalp/face sounds to me like you may also have SD. I too suffer from dandruff due to SD.
