My father started fishing again - and usually catches a good amount of striped bass ... so, since it'd be free for me and convenient, could I substitute my tilapia with striped bass? (Is it a good food source?)

I think it depends on the waters the fish are taken from. There is a lot of polution in our waters these days. Mecury is the biggest thing to worry about when eating fish. Farm grown fish do not have mecury (so we are told) TILAPIA is a farmed fish. EPA recomends no more then 6 -12 oz of fish per month from local waters.
