    Brown Rice Help!!

I have a question and it might sound stupid, but after reading all this great info about diet, I still cannot figure out one thing about brown rice. I am trying to have a clean diet, and I keep reading some somple diets. but in them they only only say 1/2 cup brown rice, my question is is this uncook dry or 1/2 cup cook brown rice. I need to make sure that I understand this right so I don't mess up my diet plan, please help..

I think it would be cooked brown rice, and the reason it is half a cup is because that matches the caloric intae they need and that!!! someone else may be able to clarify it more but that is what i have followed anyway

Uncooked by default on all foods unless otherwise specified.

Really not necessary to insult the guy. It's a very legit question and this topic can be confusing for many people.

To the OP, 9 times out of 10 people are referring to uncooked measures. As FG said, they should be specifying if/when they mean cooked.

To be sure, just look at the macros they list - 1/2 cup brown rice (uncooked) is roughly 30g carbs. 1/2 cup cooked would probably only have been 1/4 cup uncooked, so the macros wouldn't make sense.

Pain in the @ss, but you have to pay attention to the details.

I use success rice boil in a bag - cooks in 10 minutes and no mess whatsoever! Yes it's precooked/parboiled, but I don't see this as taking away from any nutritional benefit of the rice, or compromising it's integrity as a good complex carb source.

Try it out - I like to add a bit of chopped onion (yea I know, the sugar) cooked for about 30 seconds, 1 scrambled egg, and a dash of soy - tastes like Chinese fried rice!

I realize i'm adding sugar and fat, not to mention sodium to the rice - but trust me it's a very little bit - 1tbsp of soy, 1 egg and 1/2 onion per 4 cups (cooked) of rice.

To the OP, sorry for the hijack!

I found rice that comes frozen in a bag and all you do is microwave the bag for 4-5 mins. Instant rice in a bag that can just be thrown away after emptying.

Sounds like u need to learn to cook rice.

I always use a cup measure to measure out my cooked rice, makes it realy easy when u kno what a cup of cooked rice contains
