    ANAVAR 1st Time and Scared!

    Hi there,

This is my 2nd post, sorry... but I am still undecided, so any advice would be cool please.

I am 37, been working out since I was 21, pretty fit. I am 6ft1, 85kg and train at the gym 4 times a week, tennis 4 times a week. So usually I am toned and fit. My diet is OK and I stick to high protein foods and keep the carbs down when possible.

I am looking to gain a small amount of muscle, maybe 2-4Kg (maybe 5-8lbs). I don't really want more than that, not looking for massive gains. My body fat is 17% at the moment, I do loads of cardio, but its hard to get it down (usually is around 15-16% at best). I guess thats my age.

My current regime is lifting weights in the mornings before work (I much prefer this as much more energy etc). I do this 4 times a week, on empty stomach and have protein shake after. I then do cardio (tennis or cross-trainer) 4 times a week after work or at weekends. I then am careful not to eat loads of carbs when I get home. Lots of protein etc. I could eat forever, but keep it sensible.

I am pretty scared about taking steroids, so Sustanon would defo not be an option, coz if I develop problems I don't want to wait months for it to clear my system. I already have Nolvadex and Clomid, and I was about to buy Test Prop but I am not sure this is right for me. I don't want any bloat, or massive gains, or to knock out too much of my natural test. Also, I have some hair loss genetically, so don't want to accelerate this, especially as it has stopped and stayed the same for years. I have Nizoral shampoo and have started to use that, as I hear it helps. I have also got some supplements for libido (Tribulus 250, take 3 a day). I like to be prepared. Lol.

Anyway, I am think of doing an 8 week cycle of ANAVAR, 40mg daily. And then run PCT for 2-4 weeks with Nolvadex at the end. I am not convinced I will need Clomid, but have it just in case.

Will Anavar cause hair loss? And will I get any gains? I don't mind the cutting effects to reduce body fat, would be happy with a toned/defined body rather than too big. Also will Anavar knock out my libido or cause sexual dysfunction? Also, are you allowed to drink alcohol on Anavar?

Thanks for any advice, much appreciated guys!

PLEASE can people comment on what to change about my diet. I have posted it in the Diet section but its very quiet in there. Can you give me some pointers/changes please? Cheers

Before anyone even bothers answering your questions, you should really ask yourself if you can cycle with a proper diet to realise your gains. If you cant put a decent enough diet together to drop under 16% bf, why would you believe your diet would be adequate to build muscle without getting fatter? Not trying to be rude, its just a logical question.

No offence taken, I like the honesty.

My diet is OK really. I don't eat any crap and I stick to salads, high protein meals, low carbs etc. I have one cheat day a week, but thats not a massive cheat, if it actually happens.

I was beginning to think it was my metabolism at my age (37) beginning to slow down, my diet has not changed, I have always been fit/toned etc.

    Typical diet includes:

Protein Shake for breakfast (after gym workout)
Lunch is cooked chicken breast (no skin), cottage cheese, fruit.
Snack is occasional nuts or apple etc.
Dinner is green salad, tomatoes, chicken breast/tuna/salmon etc.
I don't eat any bread or rice or potatoes usually. Just LOADS of salad, and I love cottage cheese (low fat one).

I could cut my portions more I guess...

Thats a scary diet if you are trying to achieve anything other than fatigued muscles. Best bet would be to head over to the diet section and ask some questions in there. Those boys will get you on the right path. With the right diet, I bet you could drop 3-5% within a month.

I agree. eating more frequently can speed up your metabolism. If you that active your body must be in starvation mode with that little amount of food and barley any carbs for energy.

What changes would you recommend for my diet please?

Eat more meals, and add complex carbs, when and which ones?

    Thanks

    Read this stickie:
    http://forums.steroid.com/showthread.php?t=323516

Everything you ever wanted to know about diet.

Im 47, age has nothing to do with it. I can lower my bf% when ever I want by diet and exercise. You have such modest goals that can easily be obtained without any AAS use or stimulant use for that matter. Even with AAS or other chemical help, you will not achieve your goals until you get your diet sorted out.

    Thanks guys for the links/support.

Is is OK to lift weights in the mornings, and do cardio at 5pm? That fits better with my work and tennis etc. But should I lift weights on an empty stomach? I know the PWO regime, and will include cleaner carbs in my evening meal (brown rice etc)... but there is nothing on the links about this? Thanks

NO, if you can't get a breakfast in, at least take in some whey protein and a carb source. You're depleted by morning and need the energy to train.

OK I could use a protein shake before I train, and then another one after? Thats like one at 8am and then another at 9.30am? Sorry to keep asking questions!

So is it OK to lift weights in the morning, cardio at 5pm?

Yes you can split them up. Just don't train without a food source.

Hi, thanks for both of your replies. I have just watched the videos posted above, they are cool.

    My new diet will include:

5 meals spread over the day (rather than 3).

If I do cardio in the morning, I will do it on empty stomach.
If I train in the morning, I will have breakfast first or protein shake.

I will have protein in each of the 5 meals, keep fat low (as will be hidden in my chicken and steak etc) but make sure I am getting EFA (I love fish so that is cool).

Meal 1: Protein 40g plus Complex Carb meal for sustained energy (eg oatmeal or wholemeal toast without butter).
(Train in gym 3-4 times a week usually at 9am)
Meal 2: PWO Shake 20g protein, 7g carbs
Meal 3: More protein 80g, lots of fibrous carbs/green veg. More carbs if playing tennis later in the day
(Cardio or Tennis 45mins-1h usually at 5pm)
Meal 4: PWO Shake 20g protein, 7g carbs, shortly after...
Meal 5: 80g protein, complex carbs to replenish after cardio etc.

I can snack of fibrous veg anytime, plus occasional nuts etc.

Does this seem better? Thanks again for any comments

Thanks... at risk of being annoying now (sorry), do I limit the carbs at lunchtime, or will I have no energy for tennis or cardio? If I don't do cardio later in the day, I could save the rest of my carbs for PWO (when I have a shake and some simple carbs and then my main meal with brown rice/complex carbs....)

    Thats a good idea.

So when cutting, your PWO nutrition is 40g protein, 40g carbs? And complex carbs or simple? What sort of things do you eat PWO as carbs?

    Read the educational threads :-)

I have read loads of them. I know what you are saying, but I have done lots of research, I am just asking for individual people's experiences.

For example, I am quite unusual in that I want to train first thing in the morning and do cardio later... so I can read a million threads, but sometimes you just want reassurance from people who have had similar experiences!!

Usually it is just ground up oats in a shake with 2 scoops whey cause I cant get home quick enough to eat. Sometimes a banana on the ride home.

Yep, that makes a lot of sense based on all the educational threads etc.

I intend to eat my carbs in the morning first thing (I used to skip breakfast which is such a dumb thing to do, I now realise), and then at lunchtime (with lots of protein). That means will have more energy for cardio later in the day.
And then dinner will be lots more protein, green salad, EFA etc. Yum!

Not forgetting the 2 x PWO shakes. The ones I have are 20g whey protein and 7g carb. I guess I could use double each time.

Think I am slowly getting there? lol
