Beginners mistakes -crushing the amps and getting nowhere!

Well, I was set on getting started on my first cycle today but I am getting nowhere fast.

Thing is I am trying to open the ampule (following both literature and some youtube videos), but when I open it, I end up crushing/breaking the top (hat) of the ampule and its leaving near microscopic glass flakes around the edges and possibly inside the ampule. I have now tried this on 3 amps and I'm getting the same sad results.

With the 3rd amp I went ahead an practiced how to draw from the ampule as well. It was incredibly slow and I was getting loads of air in. Finally when done, I held the syringe to the light and I could see I had a particle inside.

3 ampules wasted, help me out guys so I don't waste the whole box glory here!

Score it with a file (a metal nail file will do) around where you want to snap the amp.

These needles are for drawing only, switch pins before injecting. I had a friend using them and for a few weeks was using it for both. Ouch!

i put a bic biro top on top of the ampule before snapping it . . .

apply pressure whilst rotating the amp between fore finger and thumb, there will be a weak spot

This is why I prefer vials lol try a amp snapper those work well

I've had that problem with amps, I've even completely crushed one before. My wife opens them by finding a weak point with her nail than popping it off with a thin cloth. I just avoid them these days

Its really not. And once its open you need a bigger G needle to draw because for one HG usually uses thicker oil, and you cannot pressurize an amp so just suck in alittle and wait till the oil runs in dont keep pulling back the plunger the oil will go in.

EDIT: I have never once used a filter needle or had any problems with it.

I always score my amps with a small little grinding wheel like the ones that comes with a drummel unit. It snaps open beautifully.

x2. Amp openers are like 5-7 bucks and makes it easy. IMO a great investment....i too broke a few vials during my first bulker...after the second one i bought an amp opener because it pissed me off so much.

Does your amp have a little black dot on it? If so.. thats your weak point. Using your thumb slowly apply pressure (with a tea towel so you dont cut yourself) on that dot and it "should" snap off cleanly.

Either way just use a file or something to go around the neck of the amp to weaken the glass. I did that at first but then found it easy so just "popped" them.

RE drawing from amps. I had that problem myself at first. Just use an 18g pin and it'lll come out easy as. Or you could try letting the amp sit in a shot glass with warm water for a few minutes. Failing that buy an amp opener.

I crushed one once. Yes it sucks. After I crushed the first one I starting holding the amps in a towel so I did not put to much pressure on the vial.

I crushed one last week and slice my thumb open, blood everywhere! now I use leather gloves when opening them

u guys talk like we are playing with Biological hazards. i did make 2 video clips that i posted just for fun. but come on guys this is realy not so scary or hard to do.. almost all ampuls have a dot on it. this is the breaking point. if u not have the dot on it. then u maby have to use a file or something. hold the ampul stedy in ur hand. and turn it around and press gently. then u will fil the breaking point. and the ampul simply snap !!
