Getting A Sharps Container

I live in Ontario Canada and I've heard that Shopper's Drugmart can provide you with a sharps container no questions asked and you can return it when full and they will dispose of it for you as well.

Can anyone else attest to this or add to how to obtain a sharps container, any info. will be valuable, thanks!

You can order them from several places if you do a google.
Looking for a drop off in your area,,call some pharmacies or
local clinics,,hospitals to see if they have drop offs.

i just throw my covered pins in a plastic water bottle.... you dont have to dispose of them in any special way.

Well, it is best to dispose of them correctly, at least I wouldn't feel right just tossing them in the trash.

I used to think the same way but there's probably druggies out there reusing the syringes getting thrown away improperly and then leaving them laying around for kids to play with or an innocent adult to accidentally get stuck by and maybe get a disease or infection.

i do the same thing, put the pins in a water bottle, then put the bottle in the recycle bin. and just throw the sur. away.

So to clarify, I don't need any sort of script or anything along those lines? I just walk into Shopper's and ask the pharmacist there for a sharps container?

Let me know how that goes, i live in Canada Ontario too and a sharps container is a good idea, I've just kept my used syringes in a box with the rest of my gear all this time

So I just got back from Shopper's and all went well, no questions asked except one. Apparently if you fill your prescriptions there then the container is free (which is what the pharmacist asked), otherwise you'll have to pay a $15 CAD intial charge and then all of your subsequent containers are free when you return your filled one.

So I paid the $15, which to me is quite inexpensive, having the peace of mind that no one is potentially getting hurt from any of my actions.

I use a big, thick creatine bottle, drop it off at the hospital. They'll take it no questions asked. The whole idea of needle drop offs is to prevent people from throwing them in the trash. So long as you aren't dropping a pile of unsheathed pins loosely on the counter they will take them.

Whatever works I guess, just so long as it's taken to the right place to be properly disposed of. Biomedical waste gets incinerated and I don't know about you, but I don't have an incinerator handy in my trash can.
