I was at a buddy's house the other day. His sister (probably 50) was there, and some commercial came on TV about Obama. (I didn't vote for the guy, and not a supporter). Anyways, she made some stupid remark about him being a muslim. I'm like what? That's not true.... he's a christian (I'm not really a christian either). So we went on and on about it, and then after she insisted it was a "fact", I ask her where her facts were coming from. She said her Mom (who was sitting right there). My point is that some people with small minds take great comfort with having other people do their thinking for them and being told what to do. And THIS is the basis most parishners have with their congregation. They are the "learned" one, the duly "annoited", and their congregation follow them blindly. It is an emotional position a person adopts, and No amount of rational persuasion will get them to move one inch from that "they" "think" is right.
