    question concerning BMR and TDEE

Okay, I've used information from here to calculate my BMR and TDEE. It tells me that my BMR is 1849 and my TDEE is 2959. This seems to be an awful lot of maintenance calories, and I wonder if I'm calculating it correctly. I did it twice and got the same result.

    Here are my stats:

    Age: 26
    Weight: 174 lbs
    Height: 69 inches
    bf: 15%
Goals: Mainly to burn fat and tone while trying my best to stay in an anabolic state.

Could someone tell me if I have calculated this correctly? Does this not seem like a lot of calories? If this number is correct, how many calories a day would I need to reach my goals?

    Thanks for all the help.

By the way, I multiplied my BMR by 1.6 to get my TDEE. Anyone??

That BMR may be a bit high but it's in the right range. Regardless, why 1.6? Tell me how active you are by answering some questions.
    - What do you do for work?
    - What do you do when not working, exercising, or running errands?
    - How many days per week do you lift? How long? How many sets on average?
    - How many days do you do cardio? How long? What intensity?
    - Any sports? How competitive? How often?

    Just to help your mind:
"Goals: Mainly to burn fat and tone while trying my best to stay in an anabolic state. "
Anabolic = not burning fat (or anything). Its gaining something.
    I think you meant:
"Goals: Mainly to burn fat and tone while trying my best to preserve muscle."

Thanks for the reply Damien. Please let me know if I multiplied by the wrong number.

-I am in construction. I am mainly a supervisor, but I do some of the physical work as well (not much).
-I don't really do anything "energy exerting" while I'm not working/lifting.
-I lift 5-6 days a week, one hour per session, usually 20 sets, heavy.
-Although I should, I hardly ever do cardio.
    -No sports.

Judging by how you responded to my post, I am assuming that I multiplied by too high of a number. I will wait for you to confirm this for me. What number do you think I should go with?

    Thanks.

Thanks for posting Leroy. And thanks for clearing that up! I guess I will just have to focus on one goal at a time.

yeah. Try 1.35 and run that as your maintenance for 30 days. Of course, your diet will need to be in-check.
