When its not swimsuit season I'll do cheat shakes before bed on the weekend. I'll mix casein protein with skim milk and low sugar ice cream or frozen yogurt. I love it! I try not to do that during spring/summer.

I think what's acceptable depends on the individual. Some guys can eat a ton of pasta and efficiently burn it off. Others, not so much. What's your vice?

Cheat meals. I've made the mistake of cheat days and it stalls your progress incredibly, you end up with your macros all messed up doing that. I eat one every 10-14 days. Last time it was a Reuben sandwich with fries, some pudding and a soup - I wasn't looking bad the next day either. However, after a cheat day where I eat whatever, I look like complete crap the next day.

    yeah cheers mate

i have read a lot on the net about cheat days and cheat meals seems like a lot of people do both and a shit load of these people say they eat takeaway foods and pig out and eat as much as they can fit in surly that cant be right i though takeaway foods would be something you would eat every few years if ever again as we know its just shit and has no place in the life of a bodybuilder or athlete (mayb im wrong) im leaning towards cheat meals combined with my normal daily 3000 calorie diet i myself dont want to go crazy on junk food so mayb so more experienced people could comment a nd mayb start a list of what to eat and what to avoid

I never do cheat days! And for me, cheat meals just happen, not planned out. My diet is fairly strict, and I do regular cardio, so no guilty conscious here.

But i do not go off the wall. There are certain sugary things i will never eat ,such as Bday cake, or pie. for me, cheating is more like I'll get 2 full cups of frozen blue berries, two big table spoons of splenda, a little cinnamon, fill in some whole milk and viola!

Usually when I cheat and eat pizza, i'll just skim the good stuff off the top and avoid all the bread made from fortified, processed flour. (sometimes I don't)

and twice a month I'll cheat by drinking a twelver of guinness. Brilliant!

when dieting or cutting your calories below whats needed your body decreases its abilitys to burn fat through lots of different paths...

The metabolism slows and all those good hormones that burn fat are slightly suppressed and dont serve the same purpose as they did before...

by having a cheat meal you switch your metabolism into fat burning mode and the process of losing fat can continue....

    this a basic description.

So heres an average cutting diet week with a cheat meal added...

    day 1 - calories 500 below maint
    day 2 - calories 500 below maint
    day 3 - calories 500 below maint
    day 4 - calories 500 below maint
day 5 - calories at or slightly above maint (cheat meal or day)
    day 6 - calories 500 below maint
    day 7 - calories 500 below maint

X2 - a single cheat meal will boost your metabolism. It should contain plenty of all the macros - something like a bacon cheeseburger for instance would be great.
