    Liver Detox

I'm not sure where I was suppose to put this so I just took a stab at it.

My girlfriend is thinking about doing a liver detox and I was just wondering what sort of physical effects it will have on her? Someone told me her lower body would get thinner? We're new to it so any info would be appreciated. Thanks

never heard of anyone's lower body getting thinner. Are we talking milk thistle? NAC? Either of these really have no sides; therefore safe.

The way it was explained to me is that during/after menstruation a lot of women don't rid their bodies of the toxins/estrogen that is suppose to leave the body. What remains goes into the lower body therefor making it larger then if all the toxins and estrogen left the body. Through a liver detox I guess it gets rid of all the built up toxins and estrogen....I might of even read the likes of Charles Poliquin writing something about this...

I'm not sure about that statement at all mate. What do you mean by "What" (remains). do you mean menstrual material? Because all that material does leave the body, one way or another. So this menstrual material that is in the uterous only leaves the body through the menstrual process. It does NOT collect in the lower body making it larger.

So if you are saying is that if the womans lower body is larger, then that is a diet and exercise question, not a detox question.

So what is your true goal? Does your woman want a smaller / thinner lower body? Is that where you are going with this?

Exactly, that is where I'm going with this. She's an athlete, a soccer player in fact. I had her doing a circuit 3-4 times a week. 10 exercises. 5 upper and 5 lower. Generally 12-15 reps. On top of that she does cardio 3-5 times a week. Stationary bike intervals, 30-40 minutes on the treadmill and hour running during her indoor soccer games are all examples of her cardio during the week.

    Diet, weight watchers.......

She by no means has a thicker lower body. However she is a woman and wants thinner thighs and tighter butt...

You sound like you can help??

Well, first of all, i'm no expert. Just a mate that's read alot and been around. Having said that, just a couple of thoughts.......

liver detox. I'd probably just skip it unless there is some other reason for taking it.
Body fat. Based on what you are telling me, she sounds like she is already in some pretty good shape, and being as active as she is, the only way to make something smaller, while remaining active, is to lose body fat. I'm guessing that although she has some, I'm thinking it is probably not excessive, and I'd probably win if we were betting a dollar. But it's probably a good idea to invest in a body fat caliper (I just did). If she does have excess fat on her lower half, then she can make her body (including her lower half) thinner by reducing body fat. However, it is very difficult to change your body type, and even more difficult to reduce muscle when she is an athlete. I would even go so far as to suggest that her lower half may actually have grown muscle due to soccer and other exercise. She sounds pretty healthy, mate. She may want to be thinner down there for cosmetic reasons, but I'm thinking she should get used to her healthy image. Her image may not be that of a "barbie doll", but who cares? I prefer my women a little on the healthy side, as opposed to the waifer thin anorexic look.
