    A question on FRUIT???

I remember reading in a thread someone suggested instead of eating a banana to eat berries. Are berries better for you? Would you suggest a different fruit or is any fruit a good choice?

    thanks...

^^^ THIS. Banana's would be a better option PWO possibly. As for berries, I add them to my am oats. Currently using blueberries, but will prob add blackberries and raspberries as well.

Hey gbrice75, Why do you suggest a banana post workout over other fruit? What's the reasoning?

I have seen research showing that fructose and lactose are only capable of replinishing liver glycogen due to how they are metabolized. Doesnt mean I wouldnt still throw a banana in my post workout shake.

Higher glycemic carbs generate a larger insulin response thus helping to replinish glycogen levels faster. Also the sugars are less likely to be stored as bodyfat post exercise. I usually only eat fruit in the A.M.

Exactly. I wouldn't suggest it during a cutting diet, but it's definitely fine for bulking or even maintenance. I was really just saying that if you like bananas and want to keep it in your diet, PWO would be the best time to 'get away' with it.
