Winstrol has an antagonistic effect on progesterone. It is similar to the effect that any steroid has which gives rise to free DHT in the body, but this is not how Winstrol works (it's 5-alpha reduced and can't give rise to DHT). The problem with Winstrol and your joints is two fold. First, acting as a progesterone antagonist it actually reduces collagen synthesis at the level of DNA synthesis, meaning that it actually keeps the process from beginning. Progesterone is the hormone that mediates collagen synthesis, and since Winstrol blocks it at the receptor you get a reduction in collagen synthesis. Collagen is what your tendons are made from, and it is what is used to repair them. Without adequate collagen the usual soreness that accompanies a hard workout is exacerbated. The damage is unable to heal, or heals at a much slower rate. This leaves you ripe for injury, and if you have an old injury, or are susceptible to chronic conditions like tendonitis you are really running a great risk taking Winstrol.
The second problem is that through the progesterone antagonism there is a reduction in estrogen from Winstrol. Coupled with the fact that it does not aromatize and you have decreased estrogen levels too. Now the minor tearing that cannot effectively heal due to the decreased supply of collagen is much more likely to get inflamed and cause pain, because there is not enough estrogen to control the inflammation.
I have to agree with HP that Anavar is a much better choice. Your strength and cutting ability should be the same, but Anavar actually increases your progesterone, which increases your collagen synthesis. Free progesterone will also effect a slight increase in estrogen (don't worry though because your test levels will be up too so its not like you're at any risk of estro related side effects from Anavar). Anavar will make your joints feel better because of this. Repair and recovery should be increased while on Anavar.
Given that and Winstrol just doesn't look like a good choice any more. Especially when you consider that even in injectible form it is still a 17aa, so its liver toxic (it's actually one of the worst on a per mg basis). Anavar is a 17aa too, but it is probably the mildest on the liver of any 17aa. You need to run liver support regardless, but it's just one less thing that Winstrol has going for it.
