How bad is Winstrol really for your joints?

I currently have just recovered from two major pec tears over the last two yrs and the more I train the more I think my knees are going to pop!

With that being said, ive been back in action and back training at my mma school. I currently just came across 40pills of 50mg winstrol and am thinking about eating them!!

I am currently running a test E cycle and have run out of my anavar. Would taking these pills endanger my tendons?

    thanks fellas

    HH

When I used winny i never had joint problems. I took 3 Fish oil pills a day, one before my workout.

How long have you been on your Test E/Var cycle and what did the dosages look like? Also, what is your BF?

I wouldn't risk it in reinjuring yourself and having to take more time off, Now I have not used winstrol but that is my advice to you.

17 week cycle? I'd end your cycle around week 12. PCT then wait the proper allotted time, then cycle again with Test/Stan.

Your liver will like you better if you did it this way.

Right. Well if you are previously prone to joint/ligament issues , it would probably be in your best interest to stay away from it. If not, then Stan won't be an issue as long as you are basing the cycle with Test, which will lube the joints due to it's water retention. To take extra precautions you can always stack it with joint supplementation.

ok, i just had time to do some real searching (lunch break) and will probably neever do winny again. For anyone curious to this question...

the answer remains the same- winny is horrible for tendon/joints especially if previously injured!

Personally I hate the compound. Anavar is king IMO.

I won't be doing any more stan! Elbows have never hurt that bad, finally getting over it. BTW was running with test.

I have been told that Anavar is like stan but without the nasty sides, any truth to that?

pretty much the same affects without the sides. (some people argue about the libido tho)

i dont think test lubes the joints either but i do know that small amts of test and other roids like var, eq, deca combined will cause higher collegen synthesis which will help tendon repair

but theres nothing better then GH (so ive heard)

Any anabolic compound that produces excessive water retention will lubricate the joints and the tissue surrounding.

I'm the exact opposite. I LOVE Winny up to 100mg ED and HATE Var even at the same dose. It was a complete waste of time and money IME.

Just goes to show you that everyBODY is different.

Winny's better, more anabolic, and MUCH cheaper than good Var.

I'd say that's more of a personal opinion. Similar to how I said "Var is king" lol.

I get var for dirt cheap, so I have the ability to run it at very high doses thus bringing out it's benefits majorly without any of the negative side effects Stan brings.

Only thing I like about Stan is the option to drink it. But then again I drink my Var too.

    Agreed, everyone responds different :]

The key to the joint help you get from test is that the aromatization to estrogen is what is soothing your joints. Estro helps mediate the anti inflammatory response in the body, so when you get minor tears from the normal course of lifting you do not get inflammation and the accompanying pain.

Winstrol has an antagonistic effect on progesterone. It is similar to the effect that any steroid has which gives rise to free DHT in the body, but this is not how Winstrol works (it's 5-alpha reduced and can't give rise to DHT). The problem with Winstrol and your joints is two fold. First, acting as a progesterone antagonist it actually reduces collagen synthesis at the level of DNA synthesis, meaning that it actually keeps the process from beginning. Progesterone is the hormone that mediates collagen synthesis, and since Winstrol blocks it at the receptor you get a reduction in collagen synthesis. Collagen is what your tendons are made from, and it is what is used to repair them. Without adequate collagen the usual soreness that accompanies a hard workout is exacerbated. The damage is unable to heal, or heals at a much slower rate. This leaves you ripe for injury, and if you have an old injury, or are susceptible to chronic conditions like tendonitis you are really running a great risk taking Winstrol.

The second problem is that through the progesterone antagonism there is a reduction in estrogen from Winstrol. Coupled with the fact that it does not aromatize and you have decreased estrogen levels too. Now the minor tearing that cannot effectively heal due to the decreased supply of collagen is much more likely to get inflamed and cause pain, because there is not enough estrogen to control the inflammation.

I have to agree with HP that Anavar is a much better choice. Your strength and cutting ability should be the same, but Anavar actually increases your progesterone, which increases your collagen synthesis. Free progesterone will also effect a slight increase in estrogen (don't worry though because your test levels will be up too so its not like you're at any risk of estro related side effects from Anavar). Anavar will make your joints feel better because of this. Repair and recovery should be increased while on Anavar.

Given that and Winstrol just doesn't look like a good choice any more. Especially when you consider that even in injectible form it is still a 17aa, so its liver toxic (it's actually one of the worst on a per mg basis). Anavar is a 17aa too, but it is probably the mildest on the liver of any 17aa. You need to run liver support regardless, but it's just one less thing that Winstrol has going for it.
