    Some quick help needed!

I was just told of a client meeting I will have to travel to and attend on Saturday. This will be a 10-12 hour meeting. Having been through them before I know we will have one break for lunch which will be about an hour long and food will be ordered in. I am not worried about lunch. I can and will bring my own. What I am worried about is that I need to eat every 2.5 or 3 hours. No exceptions. What can I bring in with me for a safe morning and afternoon snack? That I can eat during the meeting. Keep in mind that I can not just bust out a sandwich or something. This has to be bite size stuff.

I could cut 2 protien bars into bites and put them in a baggy?
    Beef jerky?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

IMPORTANT I am on a strick cut right now and I am not going to F it up over this. Please keep suggestions in line with that goal. Thanks.

Yeah that would be an option. Thought about that but I think it would look a little strange (in front of the perspective client and all) but then again who cares! lol. I might just do it anyway.

I'd back a batch of protein brownies/squares. Just use eggs, cocoa, splenda, whey/casein, maybe some ground oats and PB. It takes 10 minutes.

I hate how work fvcks with our efforts! Low sodium beef jerkey, protein bars, maybe bite sized piece of fruit (normally wouldn't suggest on a cut, but you need something), even dried fruit without added sugar... it's tough because you need to eat in front of people at a meeting! Let me think more on this one.

Speaking of which - do you have a recipe I could follow for this? I've been wanting to make protein brownies - haven't decided yet whether i'll bake them or just eat the batter, lol. Let me know if you have a winner.

Beautiful thing about a cut is that if you can't find time to eat.... Don't. No big deal. So your calorie count will be low for one day; better than it being higher. That being said this is what protein shakes are for. You will be sitting down doing nothing, so its not like you are burning through calories anyway. Eat on your 1 hour break, drink a protein shake or two if you have to and that's it. If it were a bulk we would be having a completely different convo

First off, I tend to have the same take on this as Twist when cutting. I think of it as a blessing in disguise when I'm forced to skip a meal now and then.

Regardless, the brownies can be very helpful. I don't have a real recipe, I always eyeball it. Here's what I make for a low-carb movie snack sometimes:

    2 tablespoons natural PB
    1 egg
    1 Scoop chocolate whey
    1 Scoop vanilla casein
Water until it reaches a pancake batter consistency

Microwave for a minute or bake for better results.

I'm sure you could also do this:

Follow a conventional brownie recipe but use unsweetened baker's chocolate, chocolate whey, splenda, and finely ground oats and whole grain flour. It would be a pretty clean meal but also have some resemblance to a "normal" person's snack.

I don't have time to work out. I just haven't been getting around to it. I wake up at 5am for work, go to work all day then go to school till 10pm, go to sleep then repeat. No cycle, just hopefully I can get to the gym.

Thanks. I'm def gonna try this.

SO you skip one meal on a cut, doesn't this seem better than a cheat meal on a cut? What's gonna happen if you skip a meal?

I guess I don't really know what's gonna happen. Many yrs ago my workout buddy at the gym was in great shape and beginning to compete when he told me to NEVER skip a meal or your body will think it is starving and hold on to all the fat it has. then next time you eat it will turn a more than normal amount of that into fat. He also said if you wait until your hungary to eat you have waited to long. you need to keep you body knowing that it has a steady stream of food coming so it burns at it's most effiecient rate. Over the years I have heard and read that same thing a few different times from a few dif sources. SO it has been drilled into my head so to speak.
That being said. Yes I agree that skipping a meal during a cut is better than a cheat meal. No doubt. But I'm not talking about doing something on purpse to sabatage my diet. I am talking about an unavoidable situation that I want to make the best of. Is the BEST solution to skip the eating? (I would only have 1 meal over that 10-12 hours - that's a long time) If so then I will do it. I am all about what is best for my body right now. I was thinking the best solution would be to try to keep my body running on 2 separate quality snacks.
    Your thoughts?

I agree with Twist and Damien on this. Your body will go into starvation mode when calories are seriously reduced over a relatively long period of time (a couple of weeks?) and metabolism slows down to accomodate the low caloric intake. It's how we survived in times of famine, our bodies adapted this way. Great for survival, not great for bodybuilders.

However, skipping one meal here and there will absolutely not cause any problems. Worst case, you'll be hungry. Nothing at all is going to happen with your body, it's simply not enough time for any metabolic change to take place. So, don't sweat it!

PS - like they said, it may be a blessing in disguise. So for one day calories are even lower then usual. Hey, you're cutting! If you were bulking, this would be more of an issue, but even then it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Thanks GB. Yeah that explaination makes a lot of sense. All these years I was thinking the wrong way about this. Makes total sense though the way you guys put it.
I guess my buddy just told me that because I was starving myself for real (off and on) and he was trying to help me. (it was desparate times that I'm not proud of) I wanted to lose weight so bad but didn't know how. I would see how long I could go without putting anything in my body. One day I read you can't go more than 3 days without water befoe you die so I tried it. No lie. I still remember the hour 3:00pm. I did not put ANY food or water in my body until 3:00pm 3 days later. My urine turned neon yellow and then brown by the end. Pretty F'd up isn't it!

Anyway..... I'm sure Twist and Damien will still add 2 cents which is cool but thanks for the education. Appreciated.
