Let me know if you know!

yes they are like a cream of wheat. water or milk depends on if it is instant or regular grits. I don't like the taste at all. It's a southern thing.
you havent seen my cousin vinny lol
a grit is a form of corn. like homony(i know i cant spell). Its a wierd thing i do not like it personally but to each their own.
mmmm, I love grits, i usually have about 5-6 servings in the morning, a shitload of carbs
gotta love grits. damn north doesnt have em. it really is a southern thing
mmm....cheese grits..... aaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh
hahahah I vividly remember the first time I saw grits. I was on a business trip to buttfucknowhere, Idaho. I thought they served me a plate with puke on it. Needles to say I've never had that stuff since. You can get grits at Denny's in Canada.
I have an interesting story about grits. I was in Orlando, FL recently for a conference. Breakfast was served and I decided I wanted so cream of wheat. So I took two full helpings and sat down. I sat down to this gal from Georgia and she said were are you from. I said I'm from Ohio. She said, I have never seen a northern boy eat that amount of grits at one sitting. I said grits? Took one wiff and went back to the breakfast bar to pick up some rasin bran.Originally posted by jeffylyte

So, then... with all that being said are grits a sweet thing that you put a little equal on? or a savory thing, that you put salt and pepper on? I don't think I've ever seen grits here at Denny's I'm in Canada. I actually saw them in a buffet in Vegas. Not to mention Ronnie Coleman seems to make it part of his daily regime...

It can go either way, though most southerners go for the savory side. I guess they wanna save the sugar for their iced tea...Originally posted by justminime

Louisiana, where I'm from, you'll get your ass beat if you put sugar on grits.............gravy, butter, etc., but never SUGAR.

hey...im from louisiana and sometimes I put sugar on it. usually just butter or cheddar though. sometimes white gravy...mmmmm, bisquits, sausage, tomatoes, white gravy and grits... the perfect breakfast.
of course, thats another southern thing...white gravy. everybody up here looks at me like Im crazy when I talk about it.
I like grits, must be the southern boy in me. Good enregy carbs. Put a little butter on them , have some eggs and sausage and some potatoes if not watching your carbs. Makes me hungry thinking about it!
